Isn't that the place that sells 85 octane?

Was there a few years back and the Farmer Co-op had a key/card pump that would take Visa/MasterCard. Regular only.

I got tracks loaded onto Garmin and Phone, but also wanted to print out pseudo roll-chart with marking turns or whatnot, has anyone got one I can borrow? :D

Just talked to the Lincoln and Gila NF headquarters. Most likely Lincoln will go to stage 1 fire restrictions next week. Gila hasn't decided when but they are coming soon.

FWIW Stage 1 means no campfires outside official campgrounds. Stage 2 limits you to official forest roads but no single track trails. Stage 3 is complete shutdown. I believe.

I'll be surprised if we get through May without going to stage 3. This is the dryest spring I've seen in my 30 years in El Paso.

I expect an 8 inch rain in El Paso. That means the drops will be 8 inches apart on the sidewalk.

Caught some snow on the first half of section one. A few flakes coming around the Broke Offs then it got a little harder up on top of the rim. NM 24 around Weed looked like a couple of inches on the trees but the ground not so much. Temperature got down to 29 along FR 67.

Western half of the Sacramentos didn't get any snow.

My wife and I are on the way to start NMBDR (North to South)...what a weekend of weather! IMG_6401.jpg
The photo is just inside Taos, NM at the end of the day. We have been in 28 to 41 degree weather for 2 days. Today will be another cold one before it starts warming up again. We start in Antonito in 2 days. Good times!!!

Just a heads up that most of the higher elevation stuff will still be snowed in and FS gates closed till May 1st. So plan accordingly.
Have a great trip. I love the NMBDR. I’ve done it 3 times and live here so if you need any help or info, hit me up...

For anyone who would be interested, I’ve tracked this thread for a few years now. My wife and I have done various sections over time in weekend trips since we live in NM.

Our current trip is a hybrid NMBDR adventure. We are using paved backroads to travel North then starting NMBDR North to South with some alternative paths and an early ending.

Part 1 Paved (1 day per section)

NM1 - Las Cruces to Ruidoso (direct route)
NM2 - Ruidoso to Taos via Carrizozo, Vaughn, Mora, Angel Fire
NM3 - Taos to Canon City CO via Questa, Fort Garland CO, Gardner, Westcliffe, Wetmore
NM4 - Canon City to Alamosa via Cotopaxi, Salida, Poncha Springs

    Part 2 start of NMBDR

NM5 - Alamosa to Antonito (start) to Abiquiu, NM.
    NM6 - Abiquiu to Cuba
    NM7 - Cuba to Grants
NM8 (modified) - we aren’t camping so I couldn’t do this section (normally grants to fence lake to reserve) as BDR...I wasn’t sure I could cover all that ground in 1 day so this is a long road day. Grants to Reserve via Quemado, Pie Town, Datil, Aragon
NM9 - Reserve to T or C then to Las Cruces via Interstate 25.

Loop complete. Full GPS tracks to follow. All in all, this allows us to do the Northern sections we haven’t completed.

This is a non camping plan for those who are looking to do planning of that sort.

I’ve read on this thread in the past few weeks everything is open already because it was so dry this year. This late storm cycle we are hopefully doesn’t change things

Although we’re glad to have the moisture, this dusting will be gone by tomorrow, but will certainly keep the dust down for a day or two. Great time to get out and ride!

That may be true down south but I bet your in for a big surprise on the Northern Sections. Not trying to be a naysayer, just plan accordingly......
