Yeah, it comes from a protest song that Country Joe nailed at Woodstock. I was too young for Woodstock or the Draft. But I liked Hippy Music and spent a lot of time imagining I was fighting the Viet Cong in the woods behind our house.

I’m back from a 50,000 mile ride (The Gap Year) that took me from LA down to Ushuaia and on up to Prudhoe Bay. Being back is tough. My house is rented. My stuff is in storage and the weather is getting chilly up in the mountains we ride. Then I got a WhatsApp message from inmates RTWbyBike: wanna go to Vietnam?

Yes! And now I’m at LAX about to begin 19 hours of flying to climb on an XR 150 and plunge into the madness in Hanoi. 2C6DE6EF-781D-4E23-BC2D-91741C11EDE3.jpeg
Does Jack mix with Xanax? (Don’t answer that:) 934B2ED6-6957-4E5E-BA2E-F3F47C29FAE3.jpeg

The first 13.5 hour flight is down. Never flown that far before. Didn’t need the Xanax or the Jack, just a reclining seat, pretty Korean stewardesses and some Pink Floyd on the noise canceling headphones. I'm a bit jealous George, but happy for you. Ride safe and say my regards to the Germans.

Global Rescue, it’s more of a medivac policy than travelers insurance. In addition to Int’l Drivers License (which may or may not be valid in Vietnam for a US citizen, we plan to get Vietnam DL next week. Not exactly sure how or if that will work out

The giant bag on the bottom contains my helmet, boots, tank bag and riding gear. The 30 liter Mosko bag, including back pack tucked under the beaver tail, will be my on-board luggage. DC6BEA61-5D69-4648-AED0-9DD4CD5D04E1.jpeg I got a lot of travel shots before I left but didn’t get a flu shot. Probably a mistake. Everyone around me is coughing and sniffling. Reunited with RTWbyBike. First met this couple in Panama and started riding with them in Colombia... for three months. Excited to spend another Christmas and New Year’s with them! 4EE3CAFB-B61B-4CCA-BA9C-0710E42FD837.jpeg The view from our rooftop.
