Picked up this near basket case for a song for my next winter project. Bad clutch (with a new pack in a box), bad battery, rust and corrosion everywhere. I'm thinking just to strip it down, clean it good, change out the tires and brake lines/pads, repaint the driveline black, and the bodywork white with an added 1/4 fairing and white wheels.

    Other ideas?

I've seriously considered that, but I am not sure a Brat bike would bring much at sale time. My winter projects are always sold in the spring, and I like to at least break even.

I made $300 on this one when I sold it for $1400

I made $just under $1000 on this one:

Not that money is really a motivator here, but it helps fund the next one.

An old bike like this is a labor of love. You either commit fully or you don't. Neither is right nor wrong, simply a choice you get to make.
From my own experience, the more irrational, illogical and ridiculous my choice, the more fulfilling the project becomes.
I have no doubt whatever you choose, the results will be outstanding.

It will be a tough call between gray and white. I have never owned a white bike.

Nice to see you at it again JVB!
Suggestion for a color scheme running with your choice of white

I will be watching with great interest. I would wish I would be knowledgable/experienced enough to attemp something similar. Maybe some day...
Not sure how a colour scheme like on this classic would suit the 1100, but on the R69S I like it a lot:

I've got a 00 R11R and I picked up brake lines from Galfer, they fit perfectly and were a little cheaper than the Speiglers. I've been very happy with them and the yellow picks up the pinstripe on my color scheme nicely too.

    Looking forward to this!

Personally, I am not a huge fan of white bikes, but I do like Foxed101's example.

Normally I am not either, but I think the black and white treatment will really work on this bike, maybe.
