Is that reflected in the price or do I need to enter a coupon code?

Coupon. Should be on their homepage or maybe it's only for registered customers, not sure...

How effective is the peak at blocking the sun? The Shoei Hornet is horrible for this. I can't even see the peak with the helmet on.

Other questions would be about quiteness and long distance comfort but it sounds like you probably don't know yet.

Thanks for posting this. You might be the only person to actually have one of these so far.

    The SUN?! :rofl
I've not seen that damned thing in weeks, but looking up I see ~3cm (measured it) of the peak, twice that with the extension on.

Perfect! That's what I needed. I'm also glad to read about the extension. I had noticed that some helmets were shown with one and some without and I saw no mention of it in the product description. Sounds like it just clips on if one feels the need for it... which I do. I ride into the sun WAY too much.

Can you tell if they ship to the USA?

Sort of. The tabs on the peak are removable and reveal an oval opening that a small "bolt" on the extension goes through. It's adjustable by a good cm so you could get up to 3+4cm coverage fully extended.

Says world wide shipping on the site.

I just checked their site, the USA is about the only country NOT mentioned in their list of countries with standard shipping prices. So I guess they do but you'll have to contact them for a custom quote and take potential import fees into account.

BUT you could save on the 19% VAT, might be worth the hassle.

That's my hope! Take off the VAT and hopefully get the 20 % promo code applied. Would be a good deal!
I just shot them an email so I'll see what they say

Especially with the Euro so weak right now. 40% off you're practically making money buying from them.

If you're nice, I might be willing to ship one to you... :evil

But first let Louis answer you. It'd be easier if they handled the paperwork :deal I am thinking of going there on Saturday (thanks to DeviantMoto for the 20% off heads up!)

I was planning on going Saturday too but DeviantMoto warned me that not all shops have the helmets in stock.
I called the store closest to me (Aachen) and indeed they don't have it.
I'll order online and save myself the trip.

Apparently Louis' world wide shipping does not include the USA...

Thanks for the pics. Is the pinlock really necessary? A dealer told me that the XD1 came with anti fog vent.
And what is that? Or a camera angle caught something :lol3

Pinlock, never leave home without it.

The shield flares out at the sides because the main lip to open it is tucked under the visor when it's open and you can't reach it. So you can use the flares on either side to close (or open) the shield.

Oh I see. Hopefully it does not create any whistle:robin
I would prefer just the shoei/arai left tab to open and close

That is a HUGE pinlock insert. I like that a lot. I also like that the main shield is recessed for it. My C3 drives me nuts because the pinlock insert keeps sliding down, making it ineffective.

I'm also impressed with the peak extension. Until you posted in this thread, I didn't realize it came with one and now you say it is even adjustable. Sweet!!!

I can't wait until this is available in the States. My wife and father-in-law are going to be in Portugal in Feb but that would be a lot of bulk to bring back and the VAT would make it less of a good deal even with a strong dollar.
