I'm slowly figuring out this astro-photo thing. Fuji X-T1, Tamron 500mm mirror lens (renders as a 750mm equivalent on APS-C), ISO 200, 1/250th. 10 shots stacked in Photoshop, auto-aligned, converted to a "Smart Object" and then averaged using "mean." This processing removes digital noise and corrects for atmospheric variations seen in a single shot.

Now, if I could just get a bike up there. Hmmm.

That is an amazing photo. Very crisp at a 5000 ISO. Other than sharpening/clarity, how did you process that one?

    Thanks,

thanks! I shoot JPEG then tweak a little in Lightroom. Taken with a D500 and a 600 prime = 900mm. I didn't realize they were smart phone lights till I got home..

have to show this off from last night. I've been shooting HS football at night and been mostly @ ISO 8000 give or take but still too many misses due to using slower shutters in the 250 range. Last night I said F it and bumped it up to 16000 ISO which I'd never done before and was able to go with higher shutters. So this late in the game after our home team and last years state class A champion takes the lead 38-35 and here comes the white team.

We're at under 2 minutes and they're already inside the 40 yard line and moving the ball and this guy uncorks a quarterback keeper and this guy can run. He's already gone far left and now is cutting back towards the center of the field and right at me. This at ISO 16,000 @ 500 shutter right off the camera JPEG. This will sharpen up nicely in LR. They finally brought him down and a play later they fumbled and the 38-35 win stood up. Unbelievable.
