nOOb vaLLey raLLy - November 7th-9th 2008

Hi folks,

It's coming up on the one year anniversary of last years nOOb vaLLey raLLy.





I'm hoping to get some opinions on trails in order to plan the 2008 version. I think the format will be the same in that we will provide GPS tracks to all the trails. So you better have a GPS or a friend that has one and is slower than you. Hopefully we can add some new trails this year.



The premise behind the trip is noobs banning together and exploring the remote trails of Death Valley. Expect the speeds to be fairly slow but there will probably be a fast group also...there always is....



I've been exploring the area for years and still have more to discover but i can share what I've found so far.

The dates are November 7th-9th.

I expect the temps in the lowest elevations to be around the mid to high 70's in the November timeframe.

For camping, we have settled on Stovepipe Wells this time.

Cost = A big fat zero, no one is making any money on this. This is strictly a bunch of folks getting together nothing commercial about it.

Let's start thinking about routes too. We hit most of the popular trails last time and we may keep some of them but it would be nice to keep it fresh.

RR, last year I was a totaly nOOb and was scratching my and wondering why a good rider like you prefer being in the kitchen, I just could not get it until I found out what the word "sweep" means.

Do you still remember how many times you helped me picked up my bike?....starting from K-mart....hahahahaha...



You did the nOObs a great service! , this year you could hang out with brokenspoke and others...let someone else fill in the void.

Thanks for doing this. I'm Ok with either month as long as there is enough lead time to request time off work.

Riding up there on my TE 610 would be a bit of a chore. Maybe some of us socal riders can truck pool up there and save a few $$ on gas. Have Chevy full size, but no trailer.

This looks like fun. I just moved here from NH, I'll have to get in some dirt miles on the Tiger (that beast is no KDX!).

unless anyone has any great objections, I'm going to try and manage this to about 20 riders. Looks like we have our first six or seven already.

As far as 20 riders....we can always have an A group and a B group...as an Example I will be staying in a motel...so the B group may be the others like me?.....

Can't believe it going to be a year already. Last years report got me into this regional forum. I wont be able to make this years ride. But it sure is looking good for 09. I should have a DS bike in April or March of 09. Have fun you ff's. Ben
