David Brown was my paternal grandfathers name, but I was named after my maternal grandfather, William Christopher....hence 'Chris'. :D

    Ya, will get some pics.

I called the ranger station in Mineral King, it's at 7500'. He said the road was clear of snow but all the hiking trails going out of there were still snowed in and the high lakes were still frozen over. Holy Cow! They had not yet turned the water on at Cold Springs campground. Light traffic yet. If the hikers can't make it out they stay home. Whoohoo for us!

It's been hot in the Sierras this week so there's a flood warning for all the rivers. The Kaleah river starts up there, empties into the lake.We are planning to see at least a couple of falls; they should be spectacular.

Hi Joel :wave Kennedy Meadows? Yes, absolutely! I can do August 19-21. This is two weeks after WMRS and hopefully doesn't conflict with any other rides. I will start a thread and link it in the LA Weekend Rides thread :thumb

Just FYI on KM. Got back from a thousand mile trip Tuesday, first leg was to be over Sherman Pass but it's still closed and so is OHV access in the forest up there. Still snow and down trees over the hiway, not sure when they will clear them. Supposedly by this weekend but I don't see how that will happen.

We had lunch at the KM store and then went back down Chimney Creek road to the 178. The gate is closed on Sherman Pass at Blackrock Ranger station and also from from the Kern Hiway end up at 8 miles, right at the turn off to Horse Meadow Campground and Big Meadow.

One of our camp spots was at Lodgepole in Sequoia Nat'l Park. It's at 6500' and there was still a snow bank over the campsite two over from us.

All of the rivers are at flood stage.

Hi Cindy, last weekend in March....

I did ask Joel whether that meant

    March 23, 24, 25,

    or

    March 30, 31, April 1

he said, "yes, last weekend in March'

    can we get a ruling?

I wouldn't mind the 2nd or 3rd week of November, still enough time to plan and get it in before Thanksgiving. I'll ride up instead of the usual trucking and go Friday coming home late Sunday or early Monday. Easy peasy rides for me as I'll be on the big bike.
