That XT you have is # 31 on the best bikes list! Sure is a keeper !
I sold the XT to buy my second XR! No regrets there!
Great ride fellas!!
Another epic ride report with stunning Kenyan landscapes.
Especially love Lake Turkana, a special place indeed.
Asante mpaka safari inayofuata!
loved the whole thing but perhaps the giraffe was extra cool
hi from NZ
Another excellent report! I don't know what is scarier, sheepherders with AKs or tweekers with ARs like we have in the States.
The video made me wish I still had my BRP...then I went outside and threw a leg over my XCW
Just kidding, great report.
awesome report as usual.....
I need to check the main forum every once in a while...LOL. So glad I found your report @Osadabwa! Don't recognize one of the names...Holesaw...look forward to getting to know that muppet (lol).
And damn man, what a way to open the report. Can't wait to browse through the next two pages of awesomeness.
Have missed your wit and reports man, what a killer day 2 @Osadabwa! Such a phenomenal set of pictures and writing to go along with them. Bummer the katoom had to get carted away in a truck, better to have it end in a place where transport was available. Ripping across that dry lake bed and all those areas...damn man. What a frickin' hoot.
Good to see you adhering to the ADV-F principles, sure the profit applauded your snub of the chair boys. Even if you partook for just a sit or two...LOL.
Many days since returning from Logipi, I’m still thinking about it. Then a poor unfortunate soul who was unable to join us on the ride sent through the following pic:
Above: Our tracks spotted by a helicopter tour operator. I think this is my failed attempt to reach Cathedral Rock… as soon as the mud got sticky, I started making a very smooth, very ginger turn back the way I came. I guess those guys will have to get used to sharing the Valley a bit more than they’re used to, but it’s not like it’s visited often by bikers, the track will vanish after the next rain and for all we know we’ll have mega rains and the lake will fill up for the foreseeable future.
Anyway, since I was uploading pics, I thought I’d put a few more in there to make the other guys look like doofuses.
Above: Wry is actually part insect. Freakish thing, is our Wry.
Above: First thing Holesaw does when he sees the majestic spectacle of the flamingo nests… pretends to drop a deuce in one
Above: A nice example of how NOT to climb out of a rocky place… legs flailing like a GS rider leaving a gravel parking lot
Above: Panic practicing the look he’ll give me if I take us on the wrong track in the heat and the thorns
Above: Wry got confused for a bit… thought his XRR was a Lil’ Push balance bike or something. Feet on the pegs, you noob!
That’s it. Cheers everyone.
Looking forward to the next one!! Thanks!!
Awesome ride report!!!, thanks for sharing
'snorer of note'
Wonderful! Thanks for the RR.
Hey mods, though I'm proud to be here, maybe it's time to admit that even with a sticky at the top of Ride Reports, nobody's going to look at a trip on old dirt bikes in Africa! Over a month later and less than 2500 views! Ha! It's okay, unpin this puppy. Get somebody up there that brings in the clicks!
Well ya'll deserve to be on the top step always an entertaining read and seems no matter how hard the day was everybody ends the day with smiles on their faces and or the occasional splits, cast, traction airlift.....
As the new owner of an XR650R this summer. I literally made an account because of "old bikes in Africa". Cool ride report and the videos on YouTube that go along with them!
Compared to others your reports belong at the TOP, thank you
I think this is a great report!!! I love reading about Africa!!!
