Late May 2018 I loaded up the bike and left from Prineville for Northeastern Oregon. It would be exploring new country for me.
Half the trip would be gravel.
I'm just going to mostly show pictures. Not much narration.

    Oregon is a beautiful state!

The route is below. The green are alternate routes. I never did make it up to Palouse Falls. The weather got really bad on me for awhile.

Stopped in Monument for Fuel. Here I found out that I couldn't ride part of my route because of private property. I had to reroute over to over to Long Creek, then pick up the North Fork of the John Day River later.

Stopped for a beer break on the North Fork of the John Day River.

I sure love this little bike. It did awesome in Baja last year.

Earlier I stopped at a farm house to ask about camping in their field. He told me about this campground and lake up the road.
It turned out to be a great free spot up at Pilcher Creek Reservoir. Lots of people on Memorial Day weekend. I got lucky and got a good spot.

I found a side road up off the NF-67. I went down a ways, crossed a river and pulled off to relax a bit. It was getting hot and I was thirsty.
    IMG_3885.JPG

    IMG_3886.JPG

There's the bridge up there that I crossed.
    IMG_3887.JPG

Out of nowhere I see this atv coming down the road. He had a cooler on the back and I thought I'd ask him if I might be able to buy a beer out it.
Well, he told me he did have beer, and that he was going to close the gate after he crossed the river. That would have locked me in there. It's a good thing I saw him when I did.

I got the bike fired up and crossed back over the river and he gave me a beer and all was good. I got lucky there.

It's a good thing I get about 70 mpg on this thing. It wants that 3.95 stuff.

I'll have to figure out how to do that. The last portion from Pendleton to Prineville got messed up for some reason.

One of the Hells Canyon Overlooks. My mind would be continually blown for the next couple days with some of these views.

All of the camping I've done from East to West and Baja to Alaska, this is the first time I've built a camp fire. What took so long?
It's always been so hot everywhere that I didn't need it I guess.

That Bear Creek stuff is horrible. Avoid it.

I was on pavement headed towards Joseph, Or looking for a nice dirt road to ride. I found one that turned out to be great.

Headed up to the south end of Wallowa Lake. I'd like to come back here and catch some Kokanee.

I rode down to Imnaha and stopped at the little store to cool off and get some advice.
The previous week this area got some really heavy rains and you could tell from the washouts and the greenery.
Because of fuel limitations it was either going to be a trip to Dug Bar or Hat point, but not both. They were both out and back trips.
    I decided on Hat Point.

Looking back toward Imnaha. That's a steep road for awhile then levels out up on top. It's all easy though.

When I got up on top the road was nice and smooth. There had just been a grader up here.

Beer stop! Looking toward Idaho. I'm going over there this year. IMG_3966.JPG
