I have only gotten out on one ride since the fall. Road the Goldwing up the Gunflint. Swelling and bruising disappeared but shifting was very painful on that ride. Went to the clinic two and half weeks after the fall and walked out with this on my foot.

What I thought was a sprained ankle turned out to be a stress fracture. No surgery required but it is a little hard to shift with this thing on my foot. Hopefully I can stop wearing it in another week. Have ordered some MX boots to protect the bones when I am able to get back on the bike.

I got out for a short ride this afternoon before the soaking rain and lightning chased me back home. I just meandered along hitting some local spots where I like to play. You might recall the big sand pile that my 450 previously had its way with. Well, it must have heard the exhaust note approaching and split. All flat now. Actually, there are still a bunch of fun features there to mess around on.

Later, I had to take emergency evasive action to get out of the weather. Ended up here...off of the correct route, but a nice sanctuary from the rain and lightning.

Then some last-light play around the house. The gremlins have been resolved, and I’m pleased with my Honda once again.

A couple Saturdays ago made a day trip to Armstrong Station, north of Thunder Bay. It's located at the end of a blacktop road. The CN Railway runs east/west there, through the bush. In addition, there is another gravel road that heads farther east for another 75 miles towards the region north of Lake Nipigon. A couple years back, some Thunder Bay riders made an attempt to connect across Lake Nipigon to circumnavigate the lake. Roads from the east and the west are not very far apart, with potential woods roads to make the final connection. The challenge still stands as I understand.

Armstrong Station, the end of the blacktop road, close to the White Sands Reserve, plus take off point for float planes in to the bush:

CP rail line. I saw several trains pass through while near the tracks at several locations:

About 30 miles before reaching Armstrong Station, this happened. The satellites were there, but no reception and no gps navigation. I had an electronic map, but absolutely nothing else. The "you are here marker" was gone. I scrolled around as I rode, using lakes and road features to keep located on the map. Same technique when navigating by paper map, pre gps. Constant map vigilance was required to stay oriented.

It's 75 miles to the end of this road, closer to Lake Nipigon:

Late lunch at a canoe landing on another road to the west, heading towards the White Sands Reserve:

I live in Itasca County, and the colors are starting here nicely, but not nearly as vibrant as where you were.

Were those pics taken in the north shore area?

I'm headed to Bayfield for the Applefest this weekend. Might ride the WeeStrom of the forecast looks ok. I'll post pics if I do.

"DO IT NOW!" Depending on wind, and on where you are from the Lake, colors are strong or starting.

May have to don the smart wool and zip up in the Aerostich gear today. Weather be damned. Indian summer may not happen this year.

We're in peak colors now, but the relentless rain and wind are taking their toll. It'll still be beautiful this weekend, so if the clouds give way to sunny skies it will be worth the trip.

Well most of the colorful leaves are gone. I ventured down the Honeymoon Trail late this afternoon on the GL1200A.

It was nice to finally have both a warm and sunny day.
