Looking for a little first hand help, I could look and search on the net but it's still a guess.

I want to take the wife, camper, V-Strom, and kayak to a fairly secluded lake up there where we have a good chance at seeing loons, I have seen a couple down here but they were just migrating through, I also light fly fish a bit.

The lakes near Ely look good on Google.

Any first hand experience with a place like this would get me started.

    Thanks Dar

The article includes a comment about the difficult access: I recall a moose hunt incident, while enjoying the Edgewater Bar in Tofte in the late 1970's; A group of hunters came in, claiming they had a moose they needed help with, shot in the Kelso Lake area during moose season some time in the late 1970's. That's one portage in, but still. Besides, it was night, sleet/rain, and they had to get it out by morning. No one even asked how much they wanted to pay. I expect that one became a picnic for the wolves and the eagles. With different conditions back then and a significant cash enticement, I would have tackled that adventure.

They're gone from Itasca County too. Come up in June and you can find loons just able anywhere up here.

I saw a motorcycle out this afternoon between Two Harbors in Duluth, beneath a rainbowed sky, and I was truly envious.

I was in my car, of course. In reality, though, my reason for driving was totally benefiting my riding ability. It just happened to be entirely unrelated to motorcycles: a Karate Tournament. Daughter, Son, and I all competed, did well, and I’m unashamedly proud this evening.
