The "Cure For Common Sense". You know, if they came up with a 1290SE I'd probably trade up
Since people are still following this thread, I though I would propose we do the ride again next year, same time.
SO STAY TUNED IN JANUARY FOR:
Northern Rage (Rally) Ride 2017
This ride has me captivated. Old stomping grounds for me. Spent manys a day rolling down the Freddy Flat to work. He lived at the end of our street when I was a kid. I'll be watching for next year or pm me as planning commences. Cheers.
Gentleman, stay tuned a new post will be started for Next year's,trip!
It will be titled:
NORTHERN RAGE RIDE 2017
I'll be watching for the exact date so I can tag along for the whole ride this time... PS-RagE can add some more single track!
Perfect! we got a name so we can order the t-shirts ahead of time lol!
Yup, that date works for me! ;-)
Shirts, No Way!
Matching klimt riding suites.
Good luck finding one. I finally found a pristine one owner example this past summer but I had to buy it sight unseen from Kamloops BC and have it shipped to me. Apart from limited fuel range, it's the perfect bike for this - I'm looking forward to finally joining you guys and I've got all winter to perform my projects on my SE
Sporting a little different look for next year:
That is an outstanding looking weapon. Love the high mounted front fender and the headlights.
Reminds me of those Klingon birds of prey :)
been reading and looking at the photos here. looks like a great time. i fear it is well above my offroad riding skill level ( i have none ). looks like a lot of fun . looking forward to seeing some photos from next years rally .
That's easy to fix - develop some skills as I believe the previous trips were later in the riding season. There are plenty of people to ride with and learn from (both good and bad riding habits) depending on where you're located.
Yup, always second week of August so we are likely looking at Aug 10-13 for 2017.
No problem, get the right bike. A couple guys in past had limited off road riding . Just drive slower, we all wait up.we all start at the same time and end the day as a pack.
Nothing too difficult here. A few quick tips, and take it slow at the start and you'll be good to go. You'll get help through the tough spots. Try to keep up with the 1190's and you'll be in trouble!
Dates penciled in my calendar...hey NORTH RIDER you and I can hang out at the end of the group
I'll check my calendar when I get home from work tonight.
This looks like a brilliant ride, especially that its more big bike oriented and that's all I have. Not many rides look to be big bike friendly, or I can't find the rides...
The date you choose will be the only deciding factor for me.
I enjoyed the ride report, and once I get home I can actually see the pictures and GPS file, I imagine it looks awesome!
I really enjoyed the single track/technical/OFSC trails we did last year, but the 800GS wasn't prep'd enough for it...so I figure I'd get some stuff to add to help it out....
I found a 2009 with low K's, like that it has KTM's 400 RFS motor and has loads of extras...pick it up saturday. This is just a stock photo. I'll have the winter to mod it. I don't know if she'll go on next years ride....GS would be better for the fast gravel and over-all me thinks...or find a way to bring both hmmmm. Grabbed it for doing local trails and maybe some races. It's blue plated
Awesome little bike! If that is anything like my EXC it is going to be really TALL though.
I dunno how suitable it will be for a ride like this? (1600+km!) Not going to be able to carry much gear and unlikely to have the fuel range. Plus, you would have to change the oil at least once (no big deal but more to carry).
