true that...can't believe it holds less then 2L of oil. It does have an aftermarket large capacity tank, but still. I have the winter to figure out dropping it a few inches. Stock is 37" and would like to get it under 35" with 3"-4" of sag. It has an aftermarket seat, so don't know which way that will go and how much foam I can steal from it.

I wanted to do this ride in previous years on my KTM 530 which is kitted out with larger fuel capacity, a seat more comfy than the stock dull rusty axe and additional oil capacity (and other rally-ready mods) but I didn't do it - little bikes suck on highways or extended high speed riding on flat, smooth stuff, they aren't great once you pack them up with weight up high, etc. Bring the F800 and just get super aggressive tires for it. Air them down when required and pack light as those bikes have a fairly high centre of gravity as it is. Stand up when the riding gets rough and take your time. No one gets left behind.

Any consideration for doing this ride sometime in spring either instead or as well?

I rode up that way a few times last year. You go too early and there is still snow on the roads.ma little later and the bugs will carry you away. Only takes someone to post a ride for others to jump on. I may have to do one a bit earlier.

Got it - please keep us posted on any earlier rides. I'm also thinking about doing a ride through the Michigan upper peninsula earlier on depending on spring weather.

In the meantime, I've got to get my ankle better.

It's not a KTM cast, that's just a sticker which now has been joined by Sidi, Alpinestars, Arai and some kind of Pokemon that my kids stuck on the front.

Imagine if you can after the mosquitoes being that fierce in August what they would be like in June!

Anyway, in spring/early summer many of the smaller roads on this tour are under water. Not much fun on a big bike.

Well it looks like those dates aren't going to work for me. Committed to our friends camp in Hornepayne. If I could talk my wife into driving the truck and I take the bike maybe I could slide over for a day.

I'm out of my cast and have been walking for two weeks now...earlier than previously anticipated as I was told that I'd have to be in the cast until end of March and second surgery in May/June. It hurts everytime I take a step but getting better and it looks like my wolverine healing powers kicked in; I won't need a second surgery.

Ok, when are we going then???

I'm planning on doing James Bay the end of August, but can still change that to inlclude this ride. That is if you don't mind putting up with a whiskey drinking old guy .

@TheRab and I are talking of heading to James Bay this summer too, I'm still too far out to commit to anything but I'll keep my eye here. perhaps a sync-up will materialise.
