Thinking of meeting a bud and camping at the Nipigon Marina Campground for a few days.
Wondering if there is a few days of easy exploring in that area that can be done on a KLR.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not much action here! The Thunder Bay locals are silent!

I’ve asked periodically about a coffee night or something, usually get met with silence. It worked well in Edmonton. Had a good mix of DS and ADV riders.

Unless someone has a better idea I’m just going to start showing up at the south end Tim’s every Wed night around 7pm, hang out for an hour or so and see if anyone shows up.

Hate to say this, but work just filled up my Wed evenings for the next 3 months.

@skysailor, not sure how many were planning on going tonight as only you and @gpfan responded/liked, but won’t be able to make it. With any luck there’ll be more people there, but if you’re there alone I feel Iike a bit of an asshole….

Very quiet, never got on the KLR once this summer, two years in a row my Tuk trip has been put on hold. Getting sick of this crap...cancelling insurance on it!

I went out for a couple of hours on the VStrom last week. First ride since mid July.
Never got the WR out of the shed. Maybe it’s time to sell it.

I have a friend here in Wpg (who shall remain nameless) that spent close to 2 months last summer travelling western Canada. He stayed at remote campsites, minimized interaction with others, essential shopping only, etc. And he's doing same this summer. You can let covid stop you, or carry on trying to live as normal a life as possible (with precautions). I've stayed within MB throughout this never ending pandemic/scamdemic/plandemic (choose one), gone on a few longer rides, but short local rides (alone) for the most part.

My take on things is enjoy it while you still can. The messaging I see in the media, is that we should be ashamed of our non-essential recreational polluting travels... and you know where that thinking takes you... that it's a "privilege" not a right to travel. I see guys travelling on bikes, loaded up heading cross country on the Trans Canada - are they "bad citizens" for doing so? Not IMO.

I think many of the ADV'rs here have not been on this site very often since it went commercial. I might check once every few months.
TBH, not many of have been riding all that much this year. Life sometimes gets in the way!

I can't help but notice things have gotten quieter across a bunch of threads. For some reason I didn't make that connection (the going commercial bit).

TBH, Jim the sense of "community" from the days whe we first came on here, just seem to be gone now. Many of us who ride together just communicate through a private chat or two, now.

The pandemic played a big role I think. A lot of people come to the site for ride reports or trip planning.

I also attended ( only for a short while ) the beginning of the Integrity ride this last Sunday . Yes there will be a lot of Harleys but who cares . You're a sidecar pilot?!? Good for you. There are a few sidecarists in TB, at least three who I have met, besides you. I'm the only one in Grand Marais. This is on the way to the USCA rally this year with my brother, a trip originally conceived with Earling from TB (border still closed):

Sorry to hear about that Lyle. That's tough. I had a recent stay in hospital here a month ago (first time ever in a hospital) for a cardiac related event. My dad had bypass surgery when he was 67 (now he's 83 and doing well). Nothing too serious. But I've made some lifestyle changes, and am working on getting things back on an even keel. I hope things improve for you. Mike
