    Grab at last!
Arlington County Fire Station # 2; intersection of Wilson Boulevard and George Mason Drive.
Special thanks to Xdragracer for scouting this out and riding along. I haven't ridden since summer and he got me out the door and for this I am very grateful.

The tag will follow in a while but the family wants to watch The Partridge Family first. No. Really.

    Tag!
In 1967 a terrible accident occurred when six soldiers were installing a flag pole at a local athletic field. All six died when the pole made contact with a power line. The athletic field now maintains a small memorial dedicated to their memory.
Directly across the street from the entrance to that athletic facility is a small dirt/gravel "road" that leads down to a creek and follows a power line right-of-way for approximately 300 meters total. At that point there is a gate warning that no vehicles may pass.

The creek is in the near distance in this photo of Xdragracer. Not that it is relevant to this post :-)

The power line. Be careful how you wave around your flag pole...

This pipeline marker is on the right side of the "road", a few yards before the sign warning not to proceed.

Ali rests behind the pipeline marker, marked with an outrageously large but in no way required "A".

Be careful if there has been rain. The "road" is no big deal but has proven to be very slick when wet. So ride with caution.
    Happy hunting!

And... there is a large property just beyond that "No Vehicles Allowed" sign at the end of the road. Interesting story but you will have to Google it once you find Ali.

Ali was water logged from her lengthy stay on the muddy tower line access road. She sought out a taller/drier venue, when she came upon an epiphany; a bell tower of sorts. It was located in an empire, outside the beltway, that could have been named after a Scottish village. The more precise location is on a wooden roadway, with the nearby cross street that could have been named after a western mountain range.

Note the flood light (which appears in the photo in front of the front tire) which illuminates the bell tower.

Ali is resting comfortably beside the flood light structure. The approximate location is indicated by the wooden “A”.

    In Annandale, VA; grab!

    TAG:

Ali was moved by the eastern orthodox theology, into which he had been immersed (anyone interested in the theological significance of the grab site church's name, PM me), but . . . thought, why not examine some western religious concepts?

So, we rode to this place of worship (note fire plug):

If you wish to know exactly of one of the congregations worshiping here (there are at least two), have someone from The Land of the Morning Calm; pardon this pun, a Chosen [a dynastic kingdom that lasted for approximately five centuries] one (or, at least, someone from Annandale), translate this sign for you:

Ali reposes near this fire hydrant shown earlier (no "A," the fire plug offers a sufficient reference point):

As the reptile was buried under dirt and grass, the cold-blooded creature muttered, "Surely, John Calvin and John Knox would say I am PRE-DESTINED to lie here!"

Street clue: The street where the tag site lies could have been named for a municipality where conventional wisdom suggests: One shouldn't sell, carry, bring, or take coal(s) there.

Tag! Ali decided to go non-church related this time, though I think a church may well meet at this center. Lots of different groups rent and use the facilities. Arnold the Pig may also live here. Ali is at the foot of this large oak tree at the end of the upper parking lot, on the back side of the tree...

Ali is covered with a bit of detritus and a not-required-but-oh-so-helpful "A".

Not that it is particularly helpful for finding Ali, but this photo shows a very interesting construction across the street and on a campus.

Ali enjoyed her stay by the river but sought out a new venue where she could witness democracy in action. Located in a city, outside the beltway, named after a city in England but best known for it’s former reformatory. The specific roadway the center is located on is named after the Va state capital.

    Add’l clue:
The facility Ali is camping out at provides food, clothing, emergency financial assistance and outreach programs, in the city that formerly housed prisoners. Located off the highway named after our state capital. The nearest crossstreet is a moss colored fortified structure.

Ali rests in the fork of the tree. Lightly covered with detritus and not marked with no stinkin' "A" :-)

Grab; defunct Bar Louie, 9501 Liberia Avenue, Manassas, VA.

(Any moment, we (inhousebob and I) expected the AMERICAN PICKERS TV crew to come by, trying to buy the sign! (They like old signs.))

Tag: ONCE UPON A TIME, a pizza restaurant existed across the street from a motorcycle dealership selling bikes whose initials were, "HKS." But, not unlike the deserted shell of the once, "Bar Louie," that location today exists as a vacant store-front in a depressing, aging shopping mall. Further, the former "HKS" dealership now exists as a membership organization, with plans to relocate soon. Here's today's version of the restaurant:

Note the red support structure announcing mall businesses (the pizza restaurant's presence is so new it has no sign as yet):

Ali lies as shown (now covered with light mulch, and a figure "A," as Pablo Picasso might have fashioned the letter):

(The above image was made with the camera pointed toward the nearest principal road, from the restaurant parking lot.)

Street clue: Ali rests about 400 feet NE of the intersection between the principal road and an avenue possibly named for a country whose capital is Monrovia (the latter named in honor of US President James Monroe, who, it is said, once uttered a Doctrine).
