Some general information- On Sunday, the 9th, the Duquette Enduro is being held in the Nemadji SF. If anyone is planning on a route through the Nemadji, look out for race traffic on many of the trails and roads.
If someone wanted to be involved, stop by the Duquette Town Hall. We could always use help at the checkpoints out in the woods.

I hope everyone is enjoying the day: beautiful weather, spectacular colors, great roads, and hopefully a hearty breakfast.

An excellent weekend. I took the Focus down some minimum maintenance roads today just to up the adventure quotient a bit. Excellent escape from the metro!

edit: it is too damn nice out for me to sort thru any pictures, but I did manage to export this one and I think it says pretty much everything I can say about the weekend.

    ^ Holy shit ^
We have a new term. "Pulling a Carl" is what happens when you totally forget about an event.

Three of us rode some gravel towards the Caribou Trail. All got lost and had to turn around several times, despite multiple gps's and a local tour guide. None of us had a bolt cutter to remove the stupid padlock that closed the Forest Service road between Devil Track Lake and the Caribou Trail. One of them fell down when the front tire crossed the hump between the tire ruts, and the back tire decided to continue on as before. No-one took a picture, despite having fancy phones. Two of them got their bikes and face shield dusty because they followed the third one all the time. All got their bikes muddy from the puddles. Two of them headed down the Caribou Trail towards home, while one of them continued on, looking for smoke in the wilderness and taking on some pie and coffee at Trestle Inn.

All told, it was a very good ride on a very good day.

    No-one took any pictures.

I wish I could have been there. :cry Thanks for the update. Mike, we need to do some more Ontario exploring if early November isn't too late.

Well, first up we have Granny Gearwhore riding on the back of Ellie May Spikehead's pickup truck full of crap.

Lots of bikes outside. I didn't count them.

Food was consumed, people milled about, and the raffle prizes were as entertaining as they were generous. Good times!

There was a fox there last year, who was hanging out at the end of the gunflint trail. Quite happy - with cars and bikes driving past. Apparently people threw scraps to it. so it got smart about it and hung out where people could see and feed it.

Might be the same one as in the picture.

    Or, might not.

Notice Dave, with all the chicks. That military background of his is a chick magnet. They love heroes. Good work, Dave!
