Ordered these Denali lights for the fairing along with an auxiliary light I might use. The halos are bit cheesy but actually look really good in person and are amazing day time running lights that I can even setup to pulse for more visibility.

Got a few parts in the mail. Taller riser, passenger pegs and an m-unit. Eventually everything like the passenger peg mounts will get broken down powder coated or plated and better SS hardware.

Adding to the adventure my wife wants a more appropriate bike to accompany me. We were just going to redo her 95 R100 but now we have another R100...

Picked it up last week got it running, definitely not a stock motor it had some pick up and go. Some period upgrades like deep oil pan SS lines billet triple lead me to believe the inside of the motor isn’t stock.

Plan is to build a bike to accompany me on some shorter weekend adventures and maybe the occasional longer trip.

Will retain a stockish look... but will get some serious upgrades.
    Things already on the way
Big brake kit to run a Brembo monoblock
    Brembo monoblock caliper
Spoked front hub (will do the rear spoked too)
    Big disc
Going to a single disc, also order a fork leg for that conversion.

Upgrade brakes and suspension, convert to spoked wheels, R100/7 seat, paint finish repair and replace everything. Again attention to detail won’t be spared.

    Love the group shot. :thumb

That's an interesting bike. '79 top cover, dual ATE front end with what look like blue anodized calipers from a 1977 R100RS. Paint looks like RS colors too. Did you check the VIN at realoem? That zip might be explained quickly if you scored a first year RS in disguise.

@Jim K in PA it’s a 79 R100RS, had to pull them all out to reorganize so everything would fit. Six airheads don’t store easily. I sold 3 Honda’s and a Suzuki over the last month and they took up as much room as an airhead and a half... There’s more bikes in the back too, wife can’t complain anymore though as she now has 3 bikes :clap

Excellent score! I did not know that the blue ATE calipers continued through '79 on the RS. My '79 T has plain aluminum calipers.

I do believe the blue calipers are one year only. 77 wheels also had a blue pinstripe.

77 or was it 78? Whatever, it's one year only.

That is correct. However I have seen pics of 79's with blue calipers.

I just have to wonder if they came that way because putting them on any other year bike was a big deal back in the day. Absolutely no difference to the black ones except the color.

I have a pair on my 75 R90/6. I've always been the greaser hot rodder type. Unfortunately unbeknownst to me this was not a big attraction to the female of the species like I thought.

Would like to have the frame off to powder coat tomorrow but can’t decide if I should brace it and the swing arm... trying not to get to financially involved in this secondary build but it’s hard not to... if someone wants the blue calipers let me know, I’ll box them up and ship them for cost of shipping.

Frame swingarm and stuff off to powder coat in the morning.

Going to clean the motor real well, probably paint it maybe. New seals and stuff all around.

Tried to give this triple away for $20 at the Yankee Hill tech day yesterday but no takers... I planned on getting a Cognito triple or other brand that looked a little more classic. So fired up the grinder and tried to make it less blocky since no one wanted it. Will finish up later have to go to the store for sand paper. Might keep it.

Parts also started trickling in for the secondary build. Converting it to spoked wheels single disk front and rear and a big brake conversion up front. That’s the new front caliper, front hub and right fork leg.

Thinking about all black with gold sun rims.

Also got some things I. For the main build. I’ll post when they get mounted up.

Took the cast seem off the bottom triple, cleaned up the risers and started to work on getting a brushed finish on it all. Will probably work on the finish later, bigger things to tackle. Definitely looks better than it did last week.

A little elbow grease and all the aluminum cleaned up nice enough. Waiting on powder coater now.

    1D4F97C9-95A8-4DC2-8E80-5E45E1D04AEE.jpeg

Tank has pin holes in the bottom. Fortunately found that out the same day another member bought a truck load of parts... scored a tank, some dellorto carbs, and a few other bits for this project.

Question about fork sliders. Can I interchange the slider from a 83 fork to a 79 fork? I would think so but haven’t had a chance to look at them.

When your chrome sucks and you’re just trying to get on the road brush it...

Parts trickling in, hopefully I’ll have the frame and wheels back soon. Would probably be this week but I’m going up to Oregon for a mini bike race and a good time.

Flywheel pulled and sent out for some weight reduction. Not sure how far I’m going to pull the motor down but will replace most if not all seals.

Going to put these on this build too. Hoping this will be a fun little bike when it’s done.

So I don’t have to rush either of these builds now. Super clean titled gl1000 popped up on market place last night for $500. New battery and it runs like a top. I’ve always wanted one, so more rearranging will need to take place in the garage.
