LB, the new owner of the Log House knows you very well and looking forward to hosting future rallies. the previous owners i sure appreciate all you brought to them. the Log House is on the top of the places together with few others for being the most affordable, nicest, cleanest, and friendliest place. funny, one tent camper on a BMW complaining about the $15 camping fee.

i like the place so much that i extended my stay for a total of 4 days.

finding an available spot is tough, i wasted a lot of my time and gas looking. then the cost of camping is not bad if it's a couple to a big family or group. but for being solo and on a bike....i have to bite the bullet many times. in several places in OR, the national campgrounds are leased to private companies where the discount privileges are not recognized.

camping now is an expensive lifestyle, and no longer a diversion from the daily life.

got up early so i can be at the Honda dealer before they open up
    [IMG]

    nighttime temperatures are perfect
    [IMG]

after 5,600 trouble-free miles....goodbye my friends, you served me well. also note the wear on the TKC 80, the single-center knob didn't wear out as much as the adjoining 2 knobs. my guess it didn't have enough grab during braking and it was the 2 knobs doing most of the work.

though still good for another 3k-4k mile, best i solve the future problem now
    [IMG]

after i dropped off the AT to the dealer, i walked over to Sugar Time bakery shop about 1/2 a mile away

    good panini and fruits

so i don't have to hang out and wait at the dealership, i opted to see the town on foot

i agree with LB, this place will bend backwards for motorcyclist and glad it's a Honda shop. my initial appointment was just for a front tire and i added the rear plus an oil change. they came through. friendly and excellent service. the whole thing cost me around $550. best of all, thanks to adv inmate Dan for sending me here and discovering these awesome place.

lots of people recommended riding the Rattlesnake Grade (hwy 3) because it has a lot of twists and turns and changing elevation. unfortunately the road cracks were filled with tar, and you know how tar snakes feel underneath. the brand new Heidis didn' like it and the ride was getting skittish so is the rider's nerve. i gave up and turn around.

here's the planned route, from Enterprise go north on 3 to Field Springs State Park, turn around then to Troy - Wallowa - Enterprise

enjoying the view and clear sky

i continue riding towards Wallowa on the nice dirt road, then my gps start acting up taking me to a detour. i looked at my fuel gauge and still 1/3 full. it was hot and don't want to push my chance. i turned around and in my mind i want a cold drink, so rode back to Wenaha.

Dammit @NSFW, you're making me want to get something more capable of asphalt miles than the little mule and head out that way. Haven't ridden around/near Enterprise, Hells Canyon, or that part of OR since my gixxer street days; think I'd really enjoy getting back there on something that was a bit more suited to longer street miles than the WR.

Great pics man, I love that part of OR. It's funny in a sad kinda way, Enterprise and that area wasn't really a hot spot of tourism back in the day. Wallowa lake was, but most of the areas out there kept their remote, rugged attitude and I loved it. Not to harp, but too many damn people have moved to OR in the last two decades...big I digress.

Great updates and so cool to have such a cool base to ride out from and enjoy the area. Appreciate you taking the time to post 'em.

started reading this after the P'pines ride. thinking this guy is either two or he doesnt stay planted long.
being from western id, these rides of eastern oregon sure make one looking west more n more. sky looks better there than here in smoky valley(treasure valley).

yokes, glad you found me again....:D

something like "a rolling stone gathers no moss". truth is it's a beautiful world out there and want to see and enjoy it as much as i can. not by luck or passed on, but i worked hard to save enough to support realizing my dreams and bad habits (motorcycles).

the smoke here in Los Angeles is still bad, no better than in the neighboring counties and cities. the west coast is on fire and sorry you have to breathe the air caused by it.

    thanks for chiming in!
