right after Christmas, some friends and i got the chance to escape Los Angeles at its peak record of the pandemic. the desert is one of the best places to go in SoCal, remote and sparsely inhabited.

we also took this opportunity to support Panamint Springs Resort by donating the needed cash to keep them from shutting down. anyone wanting to help, can donate here.

camped at Panamint Springs in Death Valley and we observed the proper social distance...lol

Awesome @NSFW! Went through DV on our way north doing the CABDR, but haven't camped at Panamint since early '19. Miss it down there, good on you guys for supporting them and getting out!

i remember not using the pegs to steer and not placing weight on the back, which i have less control of the bike.

    check this out....:yikes

the beauty of DV is there is a lot of dispersed camping. PSR has many sought values...a good basecamp with gas, groceries and food, not far from the good riding areas, and best of all....no big brother watching us (we think).

Jim, thanks for following along, come and join us when this pandemic is over.

i hope noobs learn from that video!

according to the video "following the speed limit will just make it worse", same thing...if we run instead of walking in the rain, the less we'll get wet....:loco

yes the wind can be unnerving.

got my 2nd vaccine and feeling safer to move around, though 80% of my time is still spent in the house or wrenching in the garage. last month, our governor lifted several restrictions,
allowing us to travel and opening many campgrounds.

on the last weekend of March, i went back to Panamint Springs for the annual Death Valley Noobs Rally. last year, i canceled the event for the first time in 15 years due to a government directive (more like social responsibility and for everyone's well-being).

so this year, 150 riders able to join in, and we of course took precautions. our approach was moto-distancing and spending at least 3 days being outdoors. being in a remote location and the dry desert air mixed with dust is probably the safest environment for most of us...lol. really glad to see a decent turn out which is a good sign that 2021 would be a better year and seeing the beginning of the new normalcy.

due to responsibilities and campground duties, i didn't really get to ride a lot while in Death Valley. 2 weeks later still longing to get out but riding solo is no fun. so i posted a want-to-ride in the LA ADV thread just a few days before the planned weekend ride (April 11-12) and had 3 takers.

smogged.out and BiggieFalls showed up at my house before 7am. our planned route is to ride north to Ojai - Carrizo Plains - Pozo Saloon - Santa Maria

we rode a couple of the finest twisty roads in socal, hw 150 and 33 on our way to get to Carrizo Plains
