It was fun getting the little guys dirty
Isn't that getting them clean
Sure, while you're in the creek. There's always dirt and clay waiting for you on the other side.
it's a big world out there for a tiny monkey
somehow this pic got in my SmugMug account so Paul could show what i missed at the evening dinner they had on top of the hill
who ordered this one? you PPs are killing me.
next morning, Paul all loaded up and heading home all the way to WA
2021.04.16 Friday - everyone left for home and i still have 2 days to wander in this stunning place
i want to ride more, so i dumped the rest of the gifted fuel into my tank
need more fuel and the gas station was just a block away. wow....cuz i don't see ethanol-free anymore elsewhere and the price is right! well in Pahrump, 100 octane!
no idea where to go, just want to ride
i want to check out Arches National Park but at 10 am, it's already FULL
current announcement from the website:
Temporary Entrance Delays
The park is currently full, and we are temporarily delaying entries into the park. Vehicles attempting to enter the park will have to come back at another time. Consider returning later in the afternoon or visiting other nearby attractions.
not just art, it's a great reminder this place had inhabitants, look closely to appreciate the work.
after Moab, my plan starting Saturday is to explore SW UT, NE AZ and all the way to Bisbee. the weather report for the next 3 days was "strong winds and gust, up to 45 mph" which tells me to hit the road as early and as far south as i can.....meaning head home.
the wind was brutal along 15 all the way to Las Vegas, a couple of times got blown to the other lane. this wasn't even the predicted storm. glad i made it home safely.
thanks to everyone for the company and to all who were following along.
where to on the next one?
thanks for taking us along Joel... thoroughly enjoyed your landscape photos of Utah...
thanks Rudy for following along. UT is beautiful, and one of my favorite states to ride my bike(s). our timing in Moab wasn't not too bad, it was already crowded but pretty sure is worse now. i am interested to see @simbaboy Moab meetup this month.
We have about 5-7 riders expected.
It may be a little warmer. Also, we have some more difficult trails planned--I am a little nervous about that.
Great RR coverage of Moab, Monkey fun, whats not to like?
Looks like July is open for me...
at least 4 riders would be ideal especially if it's more challenging. too big of a group may not be practical.
love to hear how it went.....and of course, no picture means it didn't happen!
Mike, thanks for reading along. July is good, what's your plan?
hopefully, mid-July or even as late as August or September, i can start crossing the northern border. already fully vaccinated and possibly most people are, so no more escaping covid, just pursue our dreams!
My thoughts are focused around the Lost Coast, which we both rushed thru last year. Usal Beach CG & Mattole Beach CG, along with as much of Hwy 1 as possible (101 in OR).
BigTodd had a great RR there (LostCoast) a few years ago. BT also has possible interest...
But I'm game for a 3-4 weeks (at least) Following your wanderings, you/we found some great routes last July, was happy to get LOST with you (still sorry about that Mofrid).
Right now I'm camping my way thru Utah Parks with my spouse (Subaru Outback), and thinking about the Shaffer Trail.
Would also be interested anywhere around the Grand Canyon - 4 corners , with its 4WD roads into Viewpoints (tho maybe too warm there).
Would invite SomeBeach for his Coffee, route planning, and Hammock Hanging Skills.
ps: Anyone interested in joining me?
Unfortunately my hammock skills haven't improved now that I only have a Monkey. If you head south from the Canyon we'll host you and your wife. I'll shoot you and Joel a PM re: July.
Dave. hope by July, the monkey will have a bigger brother. buy, borrow or rent, we need to make up for the lost riding time in the last several months. i will see everyone again in July. meanwhile, i'm staying local and moto-distancing until then.
