Great report (so far), riding & camping along the River(s) wish I was still there! Oh those burned trees! rode past them for so many miles. Noted quite a few signs on ranchers gates blaming the fire/devastation on new no-logging rules. Also Cattle & Hay farms under attack. Environmentalist movement vs. rural needs.

    Back to a great RR!

Big Sky Country, Shadys Red Pill was a great few days, loved it there. Missed camping near a river, was digging that. The food, drink, and new friends :super

i am thankful for Shady to host the rally, otherwise, i wouldn't go as far as MT. most importantly, having you and Dave made life easier. sharing the experience with others made it more memorable. i would love to go back to beautiful ID and MT, spend more time riding and meeting people.

Rudy. lots of good places and the highways are in perfect shape. lots of backroads too and to be explored in the future.

    Day 12 - 2020.06.28, Corvallis MT - Lolo Pass - Coeur-d'Alene
my original plan is to see Glacier National Park, but there was a closure notice due to the pandemic. then there were threatening dark clouds, so it was an easy decision for me.

Mike and I left Shady's place and headed north and then to Lolo Pass. we stopped for gas and ate brunch in Lolo

inside the restaurant are displays of game animals and lots of guns. didn't bother me since that's how it is in this place.

the riding was good on hwy 12 until we hit a construction zone. here i looked at my GPS and it's showing i'm heading southwest, my planned route is northwest. told Mike that continuing on would take me farther from where i want to go. i turned around and rode on. meanwhile, Mike's plan is to do more camping but along the general direction where his home is.

here i almost ate the pavement. seeing the it's clear to pass (blind corner - duh!!!), i gassed it up to pass these trucks. got to the last truck and suddenly he hit the brakes. knew instantly something is wrong and my natural reaction is to stay calm and stop as smoothly as possible. by the time i came to a full stop, there's a good size deer in front of me. i thank the truck driver and if it wasn't for his professional skill, the outcome would be ugly. he waved at me as i passed him again.

i stopped at Old Mission Park for a quick break and fill in my curiosity. the church on the right is the oldest building in ID, construction completed in 1853

The long bridge you crossed into Sandpoint was at one time a wooden floating bridge. I remember it from when I was very young and as we crossed it hearing the thump thump thump of the wooden planks. I still enjoy crossing that bridge.

It's nice to see you got to ride through an area I lived as I was growing up (Priest River).

Too bad I didn't know you were in the area I would have met you for lunch if you wanted company for a short time.

I'm enjoying your report, thanks for taking the time to do it.

LB thanks for the little history and found a picture of the old bridge. i love wooden bridges and always an adventure crossing it on a moto

i always have you in mind when i see flowers in the northwest, there's just an abundance of them.

and as much as i love to meet you and other people as well as use the "tent space thread", i am somewhat conscious that people want their space. last thing they want to meet is someone from Los Angeles, which has the highest COVID cases west of the Rockies. hoping to see you in the future.
