The day started out beautiful, however the weather changed on me the farther I rode. Eventually I would hit some rain. I'm not against riding in the rain. I completely set up for it, however if I can avoid it I will.
I did wait it out for a bit while I ate some food.
It also got cold. My heated Jacket is one of the best things I've ever purchased. Get one. You'll wonder why you waited so long.

    Lots of beautiful churches.

Louisbourg was not on the original route, however I was told not to miss it.
It turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. I'm so glad I went there.
This is looking over at the rebuilt fort.

It was getting late went I rode into town and I just kept going through to go see the fort. The fort was closed for the day so I kept riding down a gravel road to see what was down there.
I came across a couple guys who had just done some swimming and they filled me in on where I was exactly.
    See below.

This is the cove where the British landed to attack the fort in 1745 and 1758.

I rode around town a bit and found this nice yard to set up a tent. I asked the home owners first. It turns out I set up on the property of the neighbor below them. The neighbor was cool with it.

Very expensive lobster in that building.

I got a good nights sleep. The way I've been camping it can be a little spooky at night.
The next morning I finally took some time to walk around and look at some things. I found a nice place for coffee and wifi in town.

I packed up and rode out to the lighthouse just outside of town.
    IMG_E5176.JPG IMG_E5177.JPG

There certainly are some beautiful coastlines in Nova Scotia. I would see a lot of that today.

I backtracked up to Albert Bridge, fueled up, and headed west on the Fleur de lis Trail.
The weather was great and I was really looking forward to this part of the trip.
    IMG_E5196.JPG

Someone recommended I take a side road down to Gabarus. Not much to see, but still pretty.
    IMG_5198.jpg IMG_E5199.JPG

Later in the day I took a little dead end side road.
These boats are impressive in or out of the water.

Standing near the water looking back at the bike. The camera makes it look farther away than it really is.
    IMG_E5221.JPG

Farther up the main road I crossed a bridge and there were a couple guys fishing each end of it. I'm in no hurry, so I parked and walked back to see what they were trying to catch. Striped bass if I remember correctly.
The fishing was great, but the catching wasn't happening.
    IMG_E5222.JPG

    Wow, what a beautiful area!

    Another nice church.
    IMG_E5240.JPG

After leaving the island, I continued on a coastal route. The road would bring me to Guysborough. It was getting late and time to find a place to camp.
I spotted some open ground in town down by the water. It looked like there was a trailer that at some time, but all that was left was a picnic table.
I parked and then walked across the main street to a restaurant to see if I could camp there. They all thought it would be ok, so I did. Another fantastic spot.

I spent a long morning here in Guysborough. They had some butter packets on the table and I grabbed a couple. That would come in handy later.

They were catching Mackerel. One of the guys gave me 3 of them.
    IMG_E5256.JPG

I went up the road a bit and found a little park. I had a good time frying them up. My Whisperlite stove doesn't simmer worth a darn and I burned the bottom of my pan some.
Next trip I'm bringing a small cutting board and a different stove. I have also found that the Whisperlite is a dirty stove as well. Lots of black soot when you collapse it to put away.
    IMG_5257.JPG

I was so glad I picked up some butter. It worked great to cook the fish.
    IMG_5259.JPG

The Mackerel was really, really good!

It seemed like it took forever to get to Halifax.
    Very nice skyline though.
    IMG_E5264.JPG

Peggy's Cove. I didn't really know what to expect of this place.
My timing getting there was very lucky. It was the last evening of a holiday weekend, and most people had already left for the day.
Its a dead end road down to the place, and I heard that it gets really crowded. I missed all that thankfully.
    IMG_5270.JPG

Time to camp, but where. I saw a little coffee stand with some picnic tables beside it right in the middle of everything.
I parked, found the owner, and sweet talked em into letting me stay there for the night. Turns out they are bike riders also.
    It worked out perfect!!!

It was another good night to be alive. I had a few beers and updated my social media.
The next morning I woke up to rain. I heard that it hadn't rained here in a very long time.
There was an empty old house on the property and the owner said I could use the bathroom. It was sketchy, but I got a shower. A very cold shower. I needed it though.

I walked around for awhile and got some more pictures. Lots of color here.

It was very foggy this morning. I know I was riding along some beautiful coastline, but I couldn't see much.
    IMG_E5314.JPG IMG_E5316.JPG

I was worried about the fog being salt water. I had a bad experience with that in the Outer Banks. Corrosion on the spokes and bolts.
I seen this guy with the pressure washer outside of a dealer, so I thought I'd pull in.
    It worked out great.

Lunenburg was a nice town, but to much traffic and heat for me. I would rather just ride and find the occasional small place to stop.
I did park though and find a place for a beer on the dock.
    IMG_E5322.JPG

I was going to ride all the way around the bottom of Nova Scotia, but I didn't really feel like it. I had already seen so much awesome scenery, how much more awesome could it be. Not much I thought.
I cut across over to Digby.
I wanted to try the famous Digby scallops.
I parked downtown, talked to a local about where to eat, and found my spot.
It was ok, but for the price, nothing special. I wouldn't do it again.
    IMG_5325.JPG

I made my way up the road and found Bridgeport. My buddies girlfriend is from there. I thought they'd get a kick out of this picture.
    IMG_E5327.JPG

A little farther up the road I started looking for a yard to camp.
    I found Paradise, the town.
There are so many houses with great big yards. I just pulled in here, knocked on the door, gave them my speal, and wah la, tent on the ground.:-)

I'm enjoying your report. Nice narrative and excellent photography. I agree with you that backyard camping is the way to go. Meet the locals and sometimes get invited in for pie and coffee.

I was wondering if while in Peggy's Cove, you noticed the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial? (1998 MD-11 crash with loss of all 229 souls) I remember the event well, because just months before, my Swiss friend boasted about Swissair's perfect safety record.

I'm looking forward to your travels through my neighborhood of Boston and Cape Cod.

The guy that owned the coffee shop and cottages where I camped talked about how much it impacted some of the locals. They sent a lot of boats out of there to search for wreckage and bodies, and after one trip some of the boats wouldn't go back out.
