Enjoying your trip report! We may have crossed paths! We started our ride from Standish Maine around Nova Scotia and parts of New England on Sept. 11th!

You have no idea how rare it is to see Louisbourg on a sunny clear day! That corner of Cape Breton Is. is where they make all the fog & export it to the rest of the world.

Leaving from Portland ME toward NS on Monday. Thanks SO much for posting this. Terrific pictures and I really appreciate the maps showing your daily progress. Very helpful 'cuz I don't know how far I'm likely to get on any given day. I liked the pace of your trip - unhurried. Awesome ride report!

I haven't posted a ride report yet, but I did complete the 2000 mile round trip from Portland, Maine to Meat Cove to Digby, NS and back to Portland, ME last week. Really found your trip report helpful. Thanks for the details and the inspiration! My general route is outlined in the screenshot below. Amazing trip. Super, super nice people and beautiful scenery. I would do it again tomorrow. Screenshot_20190716-103353.png

    Allagash,

I noticed your ADV handle shows Falls Church, VA. I am in Great Falls, VA. I've been doing some last minute research on Maritime myself to escape this heat. Looking at Nova Scotia mostly. How was the weather? Did you bypass the eastern corridor ( I-95 ) and cut inland for VA? How many days did you take off? Discover any great places and accommodations?

Let me know if you have another place on ADV you plan to post some preliminary ride report / photos. I don't want to hijack this post. You can always shoot me a PM.

It's January 14th, 2020. I have decided to get busy with this report again.

I believe this place had lobster on the menu. I never did eat any lobster on the entire trip.

I got a great night sleep, packed up early, and continued down the 1 toward Portland, ME. It was a real nice ride until the traffic picked up. It was a Saturday so there were a lot of people out on the coast.

Lighthouse near Two Lights State Park.

I rode out to Kennebunkport Township and Pier 77 restaurant area. I wanted to get a beer but just wasn't feeling it there. It sure is pretty area.

The traffic really picked up after Kennebunkport. My bike was really vibrating on acceleration after getting the fuel map updated earlier in the trip in Nashville. There was so much stop and go traffic and the vibration was maddening.

I was getting hungry and ran across a restaurant that looked good.

After getting a bite to eat, I made my way to the freeway to get out of all the traffic. I was happy to pay a toll to get the hell out of there.

I got off the freeway at Portsmouth and made my way out to the 1A. The East Coast sure is beautiful and I was really enjoying this part of the ride.

It was getting late and time to find another place to camp for the night.
This was a very populated area and I was really struggling to find a yard to set up a tent. I was striking out at every stop.

Finally I spotted a field that had just been cut for hay. There wasn't any gate to the field so I entered and rode toward the back.

It was a little spooky out there and I didn't get the best nights sleep, but I survived to ride another day.

Today would be a highlight of the trip.
I made my way to Boston on backroads. I looked up Harvard, Cambridge, and rode through a cool amazing tunnel.
I saw hundreds of beautiful college women jogging.
I stopped at Fenway park, and then tried to find Cheers.

I was hating riding the bike in the city with all the stop and go and vibrating problems I was having, but I soldiered on.

    Does this place look familiar?

I didn't spend much time in Boston. Like all big cities, I just wanted to get out. My original plan was to visit Cape Cod, however the weather was taking a turn for the worse and I just didn't feel like fighting all the traffic.

I made my way into Connecticut on some freeway and then back roads. I then found a nice little place to grab a beer for awhile. Soon I kept heading west. Seeings how I'm from Ridgefield, WA, I thought it would be cool to visit Ridgefield, CT.

The remnants of a hurricane from the Gulf would soon be coming through. Tomorrow it was most likely going to rain all day.

I was following my route on back roads through Marlbourogh Township when I saw what looked like a little concert happening. I'm in no hurry so I turned around to see what this was all about. Best move I could have made.

I pulled in, parked the bike, and walked around. I had discovered the Farm at Carter Hill.

Long story short, I met the owners and they offered me the barn for the night to wait out the impending rains. I would end up spending two nights here.
I was so fortunate to have discovered this place.

The Farm at Carter hill is a wedding and event place. It really is a neat place run by very nice people, Mitch and Hazel Lichatz

This would be the barn I stayed in the next two nights.

It rained the entire next day. I was able to hang out in the store and get wifi. They offered me some leftover food from a venue they had the day before.

I walked around and took some cool pictures.

Enjoy the Farm at Carter Hill.

i grew up in New England. Boston area then Newburyport. I was going to say, no Cheers near Fenway Park. But, looks like you found it by the Boston Commons in downtown.
