    My grandparents lived a block from the West Racine North Shore station. I was born in 64 and the line was shuttered in 63. Friends and I used to ride the old road bed and find spikes and tieplates. I am pretty sure that the right of way was the very 1st rail to trail in Wisconsin. And that trail is why I have never ridden on any other. Flat, straight and boring as hell.

    Almost hit a trespasser at 79 mph. He was walking in the guage, same direction as us. Dispatch called the police. Police arrested him on outstanding warrants.

    It's a nod toward practicality. :lol3 They can't have that thing pulling at full power or they would have to feed it too much water. Best just to keep enough steam up to blow the whistle.
