hey guys I will reply in a few days, I just had two wisdom teeth pulled so I am FUBAR:eek1
here is a google map of the location I have located so far ( to stay at in labrador)
How are the former wisdom teeth? Good info, thanks.
Sore, pist the dentist would only take two out, I wanted to do all four and have it over with...
I've been up that way the past couple of summers. KLR one year...GSA the next. Don't just blow through. Take the few sideroads and explore the communities they serve.
I left Port Hope Simpson in the morning and camped in Churchill Falls that afternoon with a bicyclist who had the misfortune of colliding with a motorcyclist from Montreal. Sorry to say the GSA rider passed away at the scene.
Best advice i can give to anyone is don't set a timetable as weather affects road conditions and hurrying hurts. The graders work all summer and the berms usually send a few riders home early each season.
Pavement is being laid from Goose bay to Lab City from each end and will meet in the middle next year probably.
Any thing else you need to know just ask on Ridetherock.com. We aim to please.
Oh shit... less then a week togo :eek1, gotta pay for Spot service and bum a compressor then pack, all else is a go.
Good luck! Keep us posted.
heading out in the AM.
Here is a link to my SPOT page.
Good Luck and Godspeed....ride safe and ride far..
NOW tell your story in RIDE REPORT forum. You finished Trip Planning!
Thank you to everyone for the insight and support. Once the trip is done I will post the ride report. I am just taking things as they come, once home I will reflect back on the trip and write up a report.
Hello from the Rock. Are you still with us ADV NY?
Its not looking good Newfie Rider. How can we confirm?
Friends... I just got a call this morning with the news. Eddie (ADV NY) was killed yesterday afternoon on the Trans-Lab.
More info here:
I certainly hope this is not ADV NY??
Anyone have any information on him.
No posting on Ride the Rock since yesterday and his SPOT tracker puts him around that position in Labrador.
Yes, I'm very sorry to say.
Oh, no..I am in shock...oh, no...such a nice guy who had us all chime in for some advice doing the TLH.
Rest in Peace my friend and God bless your soul..
Oh, Christ. So sorry to read this. My condolences to those of you who knew him.
Anyone have any further info on how the accident happened? Not out of any sense of morbid curiosity, but so we can make future Trans-Lab riders aware of yet another of the many things to look out for.
Someone posted that it appears he was passed on the Trans-Lab by a truck, which then stopped suddenly after pulling back in front of Eddie.
Probably lost in a cloud of dust, he rear-ended the truck.
There aren't any solid sources for this information, I'm afraid.
Really, really sad. I was trying to get to the Trans-Lab before Sept. this year, taking about 2 weeks. I don't know what I'll do now. I read this thread because it had such fantastic information.
You lot are tops.
I'm terribly saddened.
If that's true, I hope the driver's facing charges.
Make the trip anyway. Accidents happen no matter where you go.
Looks like I'll be back up there at the end of August too on my way to Newfoundland.
