Gonna be tough if someone where you work decides to self isolate, everyone else will to, so trading will cease, and its not necessarily only going to happen once. Gonna be an interesting ride.

A big part of our economy is tourism. Cant see how this doesn't translate in to job losses.

Could very well be that the govt has to buy Air NZ for a 2nd time. The 1st time they did OK out of it.

Biology letting us know who's really in charge of the planet. Microbes and bacteria were here a long time before we we were and will be here a long time after were gone. Actually from their point of view there's currently a severe outbreak of humans.

But anyway, I self isolated myself on my bike this morning....just doing my bit to help. Might have to go on a two week trip to do it properly.

I see that one cruise ship company are tieing up 18 ships to the wharf. Wonder what it costs them per day per empty ship? My mind is boggling.

The govt currently owns 51% of Air NZ, they never sold after buying it in 2001. They'll only have to cover the losses.

I just played a gig at The Mt (Tauranga) and had a chat afterwards with a guy from Illinois. He works on the cruise ship that is now docked for dog knows how long right there next to the clubs. Didn’t look too bad that kinda quaranteen for him thou... Ü

I think it might work better if they wouldn’t let anybody in or out.

They’re flying some of the staff home. This guy’s flight is supposed to be next week. OTOH The States is blocking heaps of international flights, so not sure if he gets home at all.

Are the ferries classed as cruise ships or mass gatherings?
Actually I wrote that as a stupid question, but maybe it's not so stupid after all.
Enjoy your loooong stay up norf Muzz.

I thought this was interesting (not that us fellas ever ride dangerously)

"The Spanish Trials Federation is asking riders not to ride their bike or practice so that they do not risk an injury because the hospitals are filling up and the EMT/Ambulances are being stretched to the limit. It is related not to the spread of the disease but they are asking people in general to refrain from high risk behavior so as to keep the ERs clear for the more seriously ill rather than the injured"

Banning mountain biking in NZ would surely free up around half of our hospital beds...

It's absolutely dead in town, it's deserted....no traffic on the road, very strange. The Coronavirus, it's here !

Oh, hang on...the town was bypassed last week, maybe that's something to do with it.

Some of those are built in Finland. I remember the biggest one in the world (at that time) left the docs and they had calculated the lowest tide to go through the Great Belt bridge between DEN-SWE, but the tide thing wasn’t enough, but just because of that bridge they’d had to build the exhaust chimney stacks thingie collapsible. And run full speed under the bridge to get the tail a bit lower. Propably the only place where they have to pull that pipe down.

There are vids in YouTube from the top deck of the ship and on the bridge with people screaming because it looks like it is defenetely not going to fit through...
