Marbee, EXspat ? and me rode this past fall with a guy who rode a 1090 in the Owyhee's near Succor Creek State Park. He rode it everywhere we rode the FE501 and XT350(mine) and made it look easy. Mentioned long trips on his 1090 I would only do in my F250 truck. Granted, I'm not a long-distance rider but still...

Great looking bikes are the 1090's for sure. Glad you are adding to your motorcycle stories.

Yep, it's been great both off and on road. Very well rounded bike. I'm not totally confident on the KTM's reliability, but so far so good.

Nice scenic route for sure. Almost sad to see a tried and true motorcycle head down the road. Bear Valley is much prettier on a motorcycle than a truck/car haha. Last June a few of us road Peace Creek Trail and dropped into deadwood. Plan was to head south on Scott Mtn. Rd. Ah, but we ran into snow. One rider running low (out) of fuel we started to panic but Deadwood Lodge sold us some fuel. Whew! We were told Clear Creek Summit had just opened up so we headed that way. Wish we knew that earlier and we would have gone that way from the start. Your ride reminds me of that little adventure.

Gotta love the flat tire dramas (not really). :doh Deadwood mine sure deteriorated over the last 20 years or so. Last time there a couple of years ago one building still partially stood. Won't last much longer if not gone already. Maybe it will hold on a little longer with the cement area for the vault holding up the wall. Maybe? haha.

I haven't been to Pilot Peak LO in 15 years or so. Time to take the wife up there. Thanks for the reminder.

What a wonderful route. Of all the times I've ridden/driven that, not once have I made it to Pinyon Lookout. I gotta try hopefully this year. If the corona will let us haha.

I'm guessing with the time restraints of the day and bigger bikes you passed on Burnt Knob LO. Most who ride the BDR pass on this LO as well due to it being a little difficult. I'll never forget waving to the fellow near Sabe Saddle (viewpoint) who was driving a BMW convertable 2 seat roadster with the top down. Odd site for sure. Your whole route was neat. Thanks for sharing.

... we did pass on Burnt Knob because our group was jamming towards Red River. To do again at a slower pace I would definitely make the ride up to the look out.

ADV 2020 ... Cooler temps of September have spurred us to squeeze in another moto trip. Road 227 connecting Featherville (Idaho) to Dollarhide Summit has just reopened after being closed for a couple of years due to a wash out. Good news for the IBDR. So we decided to run 227 alongside the South Fork of the Boise River over Dollarhide and into Wildhorse Canyon!

Our spot in Wildhorse was spacious and strategic to capture the first rays of the morning sun ...
