I'm not seeing a lot of Dakar torrents. What's the deal compared to last year?
I don't get the politics. Can't someone download something from RU, and then share that file elsewhere? Isn't sharing content the whole concept behind the torrent scene? I don't get all the elitist BS with the torrent scene.
I would just like to say many thanks to Miniroot and Brimstone for shareing the Eurosport Dakar coverage from the previous years.
I don't know the in's and out's of bandwidth useage ect... But I do know I have kept a good ratio at the fishy place and have come to rely on it for my Dakar coverage. I guess for now I'm out of luck. I'm not a member of the RU. It seems to be a more exclusive outfit.
If you guys can do anything to maintain the eurosport feeds it would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps others who belong here and at RU could pipe up and let the powers that be at RU know we appreciate your efforts. It is about sharing afterall. I am sure there are many people here in the same boat.
Once again, many thanks for your efforts guys.
I think I am in the same boat as you Pawlie. The torrent scene has gone elitist. Thanks Brim and Mini.
I am disappoint. And here I've been slavishly keeping my fishy ratio up all year in giddy anticipation... such is life.
And, yes, thanks for what has been available to this point, .
Here's to hoping a solution appears,
I think that the closed-list nature of these things is obviously good in that it protects sources and means they don't dry up. But the flip-side is that the closed nature facilitates power games and politics. Being able to toss people back over the wall gives them something to lose, makes them want to conform.
The sad thing is that, as far as I know, the individuals directly involved were all aware of, and happy with, the status quo. It's other parties that aren't happy.
I have no idea what the history behind any of this is, but it's a bit of a shame; SBS just isn't the same.
I'm a newb to all this torrent stuff. I joined "the site," copied and pasted the eurosport link, nothing comes up. Put in "Dakar," nothing comes up. No box to check for motorsports, either. What am I missing?
Go to Browse click 'Rally' and then hit enter.
Day 2 has SBS - AU has been up for a while. The 'Fish' doesn't have the Eursport Highlights. RU does though.
thanks, Jeffy. so once I find a file, how do I get it into utorrent so I can download it??? Ok, got it started, but have no idea how I did it...
Do you have a Bit Torrent client? I like µTorrent. If you have a client installed, double clicking the 'File' that ends with '.torrent'. It should open the client and start it up.
If it helps, and if someone is willing to share the EuroSpot coverage, I can setup a private tracker just for the adv group. Feel free to PM me.
If we can get this going, I'll happily seed 24/7. That would be awesome to get the eurosport coverage back since I'm an active member on the fish site, but not RU.
I totally hear all of you on the politics BS. I was very surprised as last year this simply wasn't an issue. In fact, the same user telling me to stop this year, gave me permission last year to post over on the other site... very frustrating... I wish I could just give everyone RU accounts...
And as far as exclusivity goes, RU has about triple the users of the other site... so depending on how you view exclusivity...
I am doing all that I can to get the Eurosport coverage posted. Will keep everyone updated!
Thanks a bunch Brimstone!
If we can get this going I will seed 24/7 as well.
I got my stuff saved, whats site do I host my torrent from??
I'd love a link to the site, getting any coverage here is a bastard
Eurosport coverage up on PEC!
Those .mpg and .ts in the larger packages are (fingers crossed) 720p!
