Friday, we headed out with GalaticGS in the lead and me as the sweep.

I didn't get any photos in Rocky Gap, but we all made it with minimal casualties. The 1190 made it look easy.

We gassed up at the Blue Diamond Travel Center, then headed up Avery Road out to Goodsprings. After lunch at the Pioneer Saloon, we headed toward Sandy Valley:

My battery had been acting up in the morning, and finally crapped out just as we crossed Tecopa Road. Galactic GS was nice enough to go get his truck to retrieve me. Thanks to the Sherco rider for hanging out in the dark with time. Now we just need to implement our solutions to the world's problems that we came up with.

Saturday had me spending time troubleshooting my bike to make sure it was the battery. A trip to AutoZone for a replacement AGM battery and I was back in business. We headed out to the dry lake bed near the Lamar Odom Marriage Saving Depot and had a bit of fun:

Larry took us here and was disappointed when he found out it was not what he was hoping it was:

We then drowned our disappointment here at the Death Valley Brewing in awesome beers and pulled pork sandwiches along with a piece of incredible pumpkin cake:

We start out Sat morn with just Paul and I figuring out if it's just going to be us 2 or others that wanted to ride. We end up with a herd by the time we get to the gas station. We decide to split up into 2 groups , big'ish and smaller'ish bikes.

Start of the day where the pavement ends

Mike had some front brake issues with it locking up but was able to bleed it a bit to loosen the rotor up

Some great riding along the power lines

Emmit takes a break as Rich rides up the hill

Emmit makes it up the first hill, but little did we know it was one of many more to come

John's bike decides to veer off the trail

I like riding up hills, because of views like this

    More rolling hills

On our way to Pioneer Saloon for some needed lunch

Ghost pepper burger was excellent at the saloon. By the time we were done eating it was around 2pm and we were trying to make our way back before 4pm before sun set so we decided to not continue on. Couple of us decided to take Goodsprings road to 160. Some others opted to slab or backtrack the same way we came.

How many people does it take to open a pressurized fuel can?

Onto Goodsprings Road, great fun double track and nice views!

    What's everyone lookin' at?

Red Rock Canyon in the distance

Some cool rock formations along the road

    Obligatory gas price shot

Can't wait until next time to complete the full track

Friday - @SloKiLeR and I arrived late morning and most everyone was already out riding, so we decided a short run up to Wheeler Pass was in order

The long straight super highway out of Pahrump was fast

    DSCN2126.JPG

Then the road dropped down into the wash where we would see some interesting formations

Soon we were in the trees and a few patches of snow

This is an easy ride with excellent view to both east and west side of the mountains. Would like to work out some tracks for next year that go down the east side to Cold Creek and make some type of loop.

Saturday we all gathered at the gas station where we realized we had a huge group, 15 riders?
We decided to split it up into more manageable teams so Jeff, Scott, Gary and I headed out to Trout Canyon.

Jeff and Scott flying up the smooth graded dirt

Once we got into the canyon, the trees got thick. A few miles in a Mule deer buck jumped across the road right in front of me and got my attention to say the least.

Out of Sandy Valley Kingston Rd is a big bikes dream, well as long as you stay out of the deep gravel on the edge of the road...

A good time was had by all, but with daylight running short, we hammered down burgers and a beer and took the short route back to camp.

Joel - what can I say - you pulled off another great event. The Pahrump Rally was a great success!

I led a ride Friday that went over Rocky Gap, and then headed to the Pioneer Saloon before returning to Pahrump.

The new Husky 501 before leaving...

We headed east from Pahrump on Carpenter Canyon road, and then took a challenging trail heading south to Trout Canyon Road. This little trail parallels a barb wire fence, and has a few exciting ups and downs crossing washouts.

Here's Shaun, Rob, and Ken while we wait for some of the others...

Jim on one of those orange bikes...

Paul on his pretty white Yamaha...

Berndt on his BMW Dakar 650...
Got to give Berndt credit. He mistakenly joined my ride which was definitely a bit more challenging than he had planned for, but he did well on the Dakar (although he did get close with the Nevada dirt a few times).

Thanks Tim for riding sweep on the ride (a thankless job, but super important)!

We finally made it to a short stint on Trout Canyon Road, and then had a great ride on Lovell Summit Road. It's a winding road, gaining elevation to above 6000 feet among Pinyon and Juniper woodlands. We passed a few small patches of snow on the way.

    Rob (KTM) at the summit...

From Lovell Summit, we headed down onto Lovell Cnyon Road, and then up Rocky Gap Road (the highlight of the LAB2V rides). Everyone made it up without any problem, including the big 1190.

Then it was down the mountain into Red Rock National Park, and a bit of slab to a gas station.

We then hit the dirt again on Avery road south to Goodsprings and the Pioneer Saloon. The dirt to get there is really fun, relatively high speed stuff with some rocky washes along the way...

We ate lunch at the Pioneer Saloon, fixed a flat on Berndt's 650 Dakar, and then headed down Kingston Road towards Sandy Valley. Berndt, Shaun, and Jim took Kingston Road all the way into Sandy Valley, and took an easier way back to camp. The rest of us took a powerline road with a lot of up and down hills, and then several miles of rocky and loose gravel washes. About 17 miles from Pahrump, Tim's bike failed to start (luckily near the intersection of Tecopa Road), and we were basically out of daylight. So we slabbed it back, and I went to retrieve Tim and Dave (who volunteered to stay with Tim) in my truck.

It was a great day of riding with ADV friends!

Saturday - Spent some time while Tim installed a new battery for his bike, and then I needed to stop by the Pahrump Kawi shop to get a fuel line clamp tightened so we got off to a late start. Tim, Ken, and I headed over to the dry lake, and then to some mines outside of Tecopa.

After a short rest, we headed to the Death Valley Brewery in Tecopa for some good, cold beer and pulled pork sandwiches. And free pumpkin pie!

Then we headed back to Pahrump in reverse of the way we came. Short ride, but fun (and the beer helped)!!
