This site is the official, unofficial information for the 07 Dust to Dawson ride.

For most of the local Anchorage riders we will leave Anchorage on Wednesday June 20th. Spend Wednesday evening in Tok, Alaska. Depart Tok on Thursday June 21st and head to Dawson city by way of Chicken and a side trip to Eagle, arriving in Dawson city on the afternoon of June 21st. Friday the 22nd is fun day in Dawson. We will have a poker run in the afternoon, dinner at the Downtown hotel in the evening, and biker games in the streets of Dawson after dinner. MIDNIGHT of the 22nd will be time for posting of the bikes. Most riders will depart Dawson City on Saturday June 23rd and overnight in Tok, Alaska before returning to Anchorage on Sunday the 24th.

Now remember that D2D is a ride your own ride and not a parade. Information offered here is only an outline of activities, schedule and helpful hints. Choose your own route, time and activities.

Here are a few helpful hints:

    Information about Dawson City- www.dawsoncity.org

Information about the Yukon - www.yukoninfo.com

    Biker friendly hotels/motels:
Tok, Alaska- Golden Bear Motel - 907-883-2561
    Fast Eddies/Youngs Motel - 907-883-4411
    Sourdough rv/camping - 907-883-5543

Dawson City - Downtown Hotel - 867-993-5346 (Our host hotel)
    Klondike Kate's Cabins - 867-993-6527
    Eldorado Hotel - 867-993-5457
    Check www.dawsoncity.org for camping information

    Helpful Hints:

You will be crossing the border between the US and Canada. You will need a passport for easiest entry. Make sure you have motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license. Have proof of bike ownership and insurance. No firearms. You may get by with a birth certificate......But they may want a passport this year.

It will rain. The threat of forest fires closing the road in June is always a possibility.

Canada has a helmet law. The monties will enforce it even in town.

They use Canadian money. Most places will accept US dollars at whatever exchange rate they choose. You will get your change in Canadian dollars. The big round coins are really worth two dollars canadian-don't think of them as quarters. ATM machines are available and spit out Canadian money. The bank in Dawson City usually has the best exchange rate. Once you cross back into the US you may find it harder to get merchants to accept Canadian Dollars. Spend it all at the bar the night before you leave.

Between Tok and Dawson City Gasoline is available in Chicken, Eagle and Boundry. A word to the wise-don't pass up a chance to fuel up. If the road gets closed and you have to turn around you'll be glad you did. Expect sticker shock when you see the price per gallon in the US and don't forget that in Canada they sell by the imperial gallon and any hope of converting to US gallons or figuring you milage is best left to the math majors with their TI calculators.

You can gamble at the casino in Dawson City. Bring cash or your loaded credit card.

Tickets to the banquet, t-shirts, and poker run entries will be available for sale outside the Downtown Hotel. You can pick up a schedule of events here also. The banquet will be limited seating, first come first served.

The poker run has a $5.00 entry. Pay back goes to the winning hand.

The Downtown Hotel is our host hotel and headquarters for most activities. Dawson Dick is the hotel owner and a BMW GS owner.

Thats all the news for now. Have a question? Just ask.

No matter what you ride, how you get there, or where you stay we'll see you in Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada Thursday June 21st and Friday June 22nd. Come earlier, stay later.....ride your own ride.

I guess I will take the #44 slot. I have put in for vacation at work and it looks good so far.

And on another note. Starting in January, the US will be requiring passports for entry and I understand the Canadians are going to recipricate. The Boundry crossing can be a little forgiving on the regs during the D2D run, but I would be prepared with passport in hand, just in case.

Fixified... Passports will now be mandatory as of 1/1/07, so plan ahead as it can take quite a while to get a passport, or lotsa green to get an expedited one, which means less money for beer. :deal

Being a funky border crossing in the middle of nowhere, they *could* let you slide, but from what I have heard, the driver's license and birth certificate deal is no longer an option.

According to this site a passport will only be required for air travel as of 1/8/07. Land/sea travel won't require a passport until 1/1/08. :deal

" * On January 8, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document.
    * As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries."
Still, not a bad idea to carry one. Never know when you might need an airlift back to base. :kurt
