Hey guys new to the area (Cincinnati metro) -- just bought a pickup truck to get to trails in KY and OH and next step is to buy a bike...

Question is - how useful is having plates in this back of the woods? (Example, does Daniel Boone have loads of connecting roads you need plates for?)

    Thanks!

Most people in this thread are from the opposite side of the state. That being said, welcome to the area. I would personally not own anything that isn't plated but I'm sure you could get around for a while without one. Just buy a WR250R and ride it anywhere you want to go without issue or concern.

I agree with Chazzz ! You will likely find that not having a plated bike is just too restrivtive to the places you can go. Also many places that do allow you to ride without plates will the require a sticker or pass to be purchased. However, many places don't require the sticker if your bike is plated. And there are plenty of street legal dirt bikes that are really good off road.

We have the St. Patrick’s route dialed in! We pulled out the last leg, and are going to try to keep it around 100 miles. It’s almost all dirt/ gravel roads with a few off-road sections. I RECOMMEND ATLEAST A 50/50 TIRE!!! (If you only have a street tire, there are road routes around every trail section) Very scenic ride!! there’s also a ton of history along the route. We tried to break up the route with off-road sections so it’s not solid monotonous road riding. There’s a gas station/store at the beginning of the route. I’d recommend bringing/ buying a snack and drink. First gas stop will be approximately 50 miles in. (gas station-convenience store) We are going to try to avoid stopping all the time, but in reality it happens. Hopefully we are at the Riverside Roadhouse by 230 for lunch. From Wellsville we’ll head back towards Salineville to end the day. The Tangerine Lounge is expecting us for an after party!

The ride will start from the Sonoco Gas Station in Salineville, Ohio. On March 17, meet up at 10 am. Riders meeting at 10:15am. There are plenty of places to park, if you need to trailer or truck in!

I sure hope the forecast improves. A high of 39* on the 15th is not a good indicator.
