Its a way good bike when it was working and running right but now the throttle will not snap back to off and stays at mid open i have messed with the cable and the assembly and still can not get the throttle to not stick im i missing something lol tips and tricks would be appreciated i would like to run the old girl down the road again but i have no clue where to start next
Disconnect the cable entirely and see if it's kinked, frayed or seized. The inner cable should move effortlessly and smoothly in both directions with only light finger force. Check that the throttle grip isn't binding against the housing. Check that the throttle barrel isn't seizing against the handlebar. With the throttle cable disconnected, and the return spring removed from the carb slide, check that the slide moves effortlessly up and down the carb body.
whoops half awake brain its a dt400 not a 500 lol and all it needed was a good lub up on the throttle thanks :)
oh cool ha, ya i was half awake when i made this post and looking for a honda 500 for my stepdad so my brain decided it wanted to make it a 500 lol
I had one as a parts bike,I remember shipping the bottom end and it weighing about 70+ lbs, just the bottom end. Balancer and all it was heavy.
yep a mate has a rare Australian road registrable one.....probably still sitting in the shed at his mothers
