Anfo Ridge Road, Italy
We camped and rode our motorcycles on the Blue Mtn. OHV trails. Our camp was at the Blue Mtn. Summit Snow-park which is off an old section of US Hwy 26 west of Unity, OR. There are several old sections of the highway after they realigned at some point. Most of this road still had a single yellow no passing line. I wonder when they quit using a single line in favor of double yellow lines. I also rode on one section which had a solid yellow line and a solid white line. Never saw that in my adulthood either.
Also was interesting to learn that in Oregon, US 26 used to be numbered US 28 until the early 1950's.
In 1937, US 28 was truncated from Florence to Eugene, which then became its western terminus in Eugene. US 28 was replaced with US 26 when US 26 was extended from Wyoming to the Pacific Ocean in 1952. The portion of US 28 from Ontario to Prineville became US 26. That highway then continued in a northwesterly direction to Portland and Astoria. From Prineville to Eugene, US 28 became U.S. Route 126, now known as Oregon Route 126.
