To answer the original question, there are a few listings online for the Coleman Peak 1 between $80 and $120.
And yet another thing I probably don't need but find myself endlessly searching for . Problem is they seem to be fairly high priced used. Also just watched a YouTube video on how to construct a cover for this oven from welding cloth and fireproof thread (which could also qualify for the sewing discussion thread).
Love the old Colemans. They last virtually forever and the parts that wear are easily replaced. It comes from a time when we were not so quick to dispose of and replace products. Mrs CdnX and I inherited one along with a lantern that are about 40 year old and they both work like a charm. Overlanders and some of the camper crowd still like them along with those who have bush camps. Not so practical on a bike. I won't part with mine though.
Just picked up this 3 burner and now it's ready for hunting season. Cleaned, tested, ready... Also have a few lanterns.
I can't believe this has gotten so much interest.....I figured I was only one of the few out here who had a couple of old(er) Coleman products.... When you need a stove or a light...No Batteries required.....If I only had more room..... ..............................................................
Wow, does your post ever apply to me also. Thread just keeps poking along eh. I started the thread trying to find out for my sister in law, if the old Coleman still in the original box, that she found in garage of house she just bought, had any value? The garage is now empty- the stove??? I didn’t ask. I’ve got my Coleman single burner and lantern in a shed on my grandson’s property cause I’ve no room. I probably could have had her stove too but it would have just been something for someone to find in a shed when I’m gone. I store my motorcycle in that same shed so I’ll probably have a look at my “stuff” when I put the bike in hibernation in a couple months. Wonder what surprises I’ll find in my “stuff”
I had to pass on a free one this weekend, a two burner 411 at a moving sale. Was on the bike a long way from home and didn't even have anything to strap it down.
Those three burner ones are quite a rarity. Not super collectible, but they actually command a really decent price compared to the 425s. I suppose as they get tossed in the trash heap, they will become increasingly rare. All I usually do is swap out the pump leather every few years and replace the fuel cap seals as needed. If you're looking for quality replacement parts, I buy all my stuff from the Fettlebox in the UK. Very good quality seals and pump leathers. Worth keeping a few on hand. I picked up an Optimus 8R and a Svea 123 that needed some wicks, seals and packing. The ones I bought from the vendor were excellent and should outlast my life, considering the stoves are both from the 1960s and still going like new. https://www.fettlebox.co.uk/ No affiliation, just happy with the service.
Many years ago I gave my little brother the stove I got for $10. that a guy used to melt tire weights into his lead bullets.....I told ya-all I got a new one in the box from our neighbor for $10.. I was just talking to Mark (220 miles away)..and he said his propane conversion would not light. He went down to the basement and dragged the pump tank & a can of fuel and it lit right up! I don't think any males in our family toss anything away, never can know when you may need something.........
Love my Coleman stuff. Many stoves, lanterns and heaters to pick from for specific use. You may be surprised what some items are selling for these days. Covid camping as the reason?? Stuff that was $5- $10 at flea markets are now $50 -$150 on ebay etc. Those folding ovens are AWESOME (just have to get technique figured out to not burn). Fresh cornbread, biscuits, cinnamon rolls do great. Ovens with box going for good money, no longer sold new. 3 burners also good money. Specific lanterns BIG MONEY. Everybody wants a birthday lantern dated month and year, usually a red 200A. Catalytic heaters keep a nice warm tent without carbon monoxide
Wow, when was the folding oven pulled from production? I bought one from Walmart about 10 years ago so it has been awhile since I shopped for one.
Not sure on the oven; I started looking for them when I saw on ebay for $150. I didn't check Coleman website, but couldn't find any for sale. Sometimes we will have 2 or 3 in camp for a larger group. Very handy but make sure to have something to break up the heat from the bottom. Fire bricks, pizza stone etc. I use 2 round baking pans and turn the bottom one upside down which rolls the heat around and works beautifully. Much lighter and easier to pack than bricks.
Picked up an in the box 425e from 1986 this evening. Never fired. I’ll get some pics in the morning. But we’ve all seen em
My go-to car camping stove has been a freebie 425. It was missing the fuel tank so I did a quick propane conversion. It been all over the US and has never let me down, even running propane at 12k feet.
Pulled the stove outta the truck, and outta the box. Took a better look. 6 whacks with the rawhide mallet and a HDPE block got the 2 bent corners straightened out. took longer to get the old dried on styrofoam/paper off the wind deflector corners. haven’t fired it up, will probably run it off a propane conversion as I don’t want liquid fuel under my bed, and propane can go outside while traveling. I know people get these things for next to nothing, but I don’t feel bad about handing em $50 for it.
