So November 2019...
oh man. Fantastic last photo.
I think I got one last soak in and had to go home.
So, this was the time I mentioned earlier. I'm heading back for a meeting with the NPS, this is kind of the celebration of completing the written plan. I'm close to those that are on the S.P.A. board and they did their best for us the user.
This is a one nighter, packed light. Love this bike, it does better in the dirt than you'd expect of a bike this size.
I had only been gone a few days, so most everyone that I had been hanging out with was still there.
This girl, I'm getting old, she was about 30. Anyways I forget her name, but she was an RN. She had had a dream job at Stanford Medical as an RN, but couldn't handle the stress, nightmares and stuff. She quit and started working on cruise ships. She was between gigs and traveling with her stuffed bear, Stewart. I remember the bears name and not hers, wtf is wrong with me? She had made a list of things Stewart needed a picture with...
yeah, me too. Getting old I mean.
but I'm not letting my wife read this thread
Want to know how I got a smile on every face?
Learned this one a long time ago.
"Pretend you're happy!"
Works every time.
These are my people.
Mike Reynolds DVNP Superintendent:
I'm not real thrilled with some of what I heard today. We'll see how it goes in the future.
I better get going.
It's going to be a long night.
Is there somewhere else here on ADVRider where you shared what you heard from the Pork Circus? That discussion probably doesn't belong here.
Had the Superintendent ever been there before?
I don't think I've shared about it before. You can tell from the sheepish expressions I captured that they're not being 100% honest. I heard some mumbled words about shrinking the footprint of the springs. They had pictures from 1984 I think and the footprint has grown. People were getting dispersed camping mixed up with camping where you want with your car. This will be an issue in the future and I feel like I'm the only one that read it that way. On the plus side for us, they don't have any money to do anything in the near future.
Yes, Mike has been there numerous times. I sat on the lawn and ate lunch with him one time. I think he's a good guy with an impossible job. You can't please everyone all the time.
That was a really interesting thread.
This is going to be a long stay and I forgot to bring some around camp shoes. K-mart in Bishop was going out of business. I got these awful boat shoes for $3 or something.
Another in the dark trip into Saline Valley.
We did some much needed work to the Volcano tub.
Trona Dave, Flipper, Tom and Giff down at the tub. Giff supervised, he's almost 90 now.
This tub kicks ass now, it will actually roast you out of it at 2 am where before we didn't use it after dark much.
Farmer Fred and Dennis on the bench.
Time for the big game!!
Had to do a quick edit, there might have been a weiner in this picture.
It's tough getting pictures at a nudist colony.
