Stopped at Hunter Cabin, they're going to do a 50 acre "controlled" burn around the cabin next summer, yes...summer, figured I'd see it once more just in case they burn it down.

Strangely enough the silt beds in Hidden Valley are gone, it got just enough rain in July and it set up like concrete before anybody drove on it.

I know who lost this off their rental car, we had a link to his blog on another forum and he followed the traffic to "defend" his "honor". This retard tried to go up Lippencott during the summer with...a Camry.. escaped with his life and girlfriend and $17,000 worth of damage to the car and the only thing he learned was that he needed better insurance. Very entitled young man, discussion didn't go well, thread locked. :lol3

Yup!!! I had the stocking cap you made for me, but it was abnormally warm on this trip...never got to wear it.

Friday now, last of the good breakfast grub and my last book is fading fast...

Brought back a few brews from PSR...

I have a nice full body sunburn going by now, so I'm trying to stay out of the sun today.

I'm now one of the people that has been around for years and years, so I recruited a couple of helpers and scrubbed the Wizard pool out.

I bummed a book from Ruth and Peter today, gave them the one book Nicky said I could pass on...the library isn't in the outhouse anymore.

    Nice day is over...

Ruth and Peter invited me over for dinner.

    Very nice people...

Oh yeah, met a guy that drove one of these...he won the Class 6 SCORE championship in 1981, then retired from racing. There had been two deaths in his class in 18 months and out of respect for his pregnant wife and unborn child, he quit racing.

Spent another day goofing off, reading, staying out of the sun.

I saw Peter and he was amazed I was almost done with the book..asked me how I liked it. Read him a line from the book, 'At last, nothing to complain about.' , what a whiney bastard Che was, I bet he breathed a sigh of relief when he was finally executed...what a miserable person.

    Time for dinner...

I pack everything up, tidy up my camp spot and pass my leftover firewood to Ruth and Peter.

    Last night out...

Packed up by 6:30 am, I want to be home before dark.

The riding is very difficult, the road was washed out over the summer and the new route isn't packed in yet, I sure am glad I put the lower gearing in the rear end on the bike, it let's me just tractor along. I try to ride on the biggest rocks since I don't sink as much on those. I'm in the shadows, then sunlight, back and forth.

    Out to pavement...

Made it to Big Pine without having to use my spare gas, the tank holds 6.1 gallons...I'm getting better mileage in the dirt with the new gearing, 30 mpg versus the old 25 mpg.

    Breakfast!!

    Mailed something for Ruth.

    Oddities along the way...

Oh yeah, that last one reminded me of something. I'm cruising down 395 near Mammoth and look down at the speedometer...hole E CRAP! 97 mph!!! I roll out right away and coast back down to 68 mph, better work a little harder at watching my speed because not 2 minutes later the CHP was right next to me, he eyed me for a mile or so trying to decide if this clapper could really do 97 or if perhaps he is letting the real culprit get away ahead of us, the way he mashed it and took off I think he decided it must have been another motorcycle...whew!!

Fantastic weather, let's do Sonora Pass again!!!

One last picture and I did make it home before dark.

I need to build an on the fly headlight trim adjuster on this thing, the HID bulbs are just too much sometimes. It was another good time in the desert, 8 days or something this time and three books...it was very relaxing, try it yourself sometime and thanks for following along.

HaHa! Loved that frog on a bike!

Did you like the Stephen King book any better than the whiny commie book? :evil

    :lol3

This trip sounded more like a vacation your grandfather would take you on - a lot of down time, messin' around and taking it easy.

That Goldwing's teachin' you how to kick back, huh??? (How'd it do in the windstorm last night?)

'Who killed the bishop?' was the best book of the three, but Joyland wasn't bad..not too scary. I got a lead on a good book from my new friend Ruth, Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts...looks super good.

If the trunk lid on the 'wing didn't have wiring tethering it to the bike it'd be gone. :huh

Thanks for reading Bob, Dave and all. :freaky

    Awesome Pictures and write-ups larryboy!

Keep it coming. I wish I could be riding in a place like that right now, but it seems worlds away...

You cast good impressions larryboy. Great read and pics of your thoughts and travels. Been too long since I've been to Saline and DV. Ruth's recommend turned into a tangent to And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini when I waffled at Shantaram's 944 pages. Looking forward to more of your reports.
