Beautiful - you lucky dog
Bonus on the flying!
Terrific report as always. Thanks for sharing your good time.
hey rob, thanks for the bike info today and the heads up on your d/v report. will let you know on what i decide
What? I didn't know you were doing an update!
That plane ride was cool!
You were brave! Looks like the views were worth it.
(maybe not so much for the nekkid softball...:huh )
Great update, Rob.
And the food pics keep getting more and more impressive!
I will admit to popping a meclizine that Sacramento Dan had, we're both vertigo sufferer's. I had a bad bout the night I got in, sometimes all day riding with an early stop gets it started...that's why I often ride well into the night, it seems better if I stop when it's dark for some reason.
I'm glad I did it, but I was terrified. I've seen many, many planes fly in, take one look at that strip and just fly away without landing. Pilot Dave is really good, he lands on frozen lakes, gravel bars, his place in Baja and random ridge tops.
Thanks again to everybody that came in for a look, I've been updating this thread when I go to the Saline Valley on this bike.
Watch for updates to the same old story over the years as I've come to like this bike and don't use it for much besides this.
Super cool flying opportunity. We have the chance to fly over the Black Rock Desert this summer.
Richard had better not chicken out on me. If you can do it, so can he!
Damn, I miss the desert. Thanks for sharing!
Good report as always, mucho gracias.
SSSSSSSSSSweet. Nicky told me you were gone, and now reading this from Europe is making me miss riding in the US even more, good thing im coming back in 28 days, but shit who's counting....
again on yet another not your typical ADV DV rreport
Sacramento Dan here, guess I ought to confess I am an ADV rider also, but without most of the skill of Rob and none of the prose. I was there when Rob rode up in Saline, and I have never seen a bike piled so high with gear, a weeks worth of GOOD food, and a load of firewood. I'll admit the road in was in good shape but its still 45 miles of gravel and rock with about 15 of semi-serious sand! Rob can ride - AND eat. Had a great time hanging with you in Feb, Rob, keep up the great posts. BTW, I took the Tiger 800XC down in March and was a little concerned due to the stock Pirrelli scorpion tires. They actually worked great and seemed unfazed by the sand. Came back my way of Stovepipe Wells, Beaty, and the Fish Lake Valley. Our buddy Paris wasn't around but I had a fun soak and camp at the hot springs there. Let's ride. Dan
Inspired to ride. I think I will. Thanks for the nudge.
Looks like a fun trip.
Enjoyable video, larryboy. Its nice to see you are out on the trails again.
Good time, this year. Even without that crazy Frenchman and our coffee friends.
thanks for the slideshow, looks like you guys had a fantastic time!
Was a great little trip and with the cloud cover we didn't even get a sunburn by staying in camp all day. Ate some good food, read some good books. The only thing we really missed out on was getting to see the stars.
Wonderful slide show and music!
Nice to see Nixels on a bike again ...
Thinking about riding up Sonora Pass tomorrow on
a new-to-me '05 KLR ... that's the plan, anyway ...
see you around the campfire,
