Took my granddaughter off road riding this morning. Was great. Machines only single HP but lots of torque. A few emissions problems as they seem to automatically select neutral during fairly frequent discharge.

Yeehah! It was a lot of fun. Especially the look on her face when she saw the size of the horse she was going to ride.

Anyhoo back to reality. Im dojng to head south from Awakino on Easter Sunday and want to do as much of the T2B route from there to Wellington as i can. And anything else I can fit in. I'll try and post a bit of an itinerary on the hoof...:dllama:

But plans are pretty loose. Hasta luego folks, I'm headin' south...in a while.

Have fun, I'm flying to San Francisco Easter Sunday to ride a motorbike south to Sequoia National Park. Going to borrow one of @Sfcootz bikes.

And i dont know if you are on here but profuse apologies to the rider that found me in front of him/her on the way to Pomerangi. My riding skills are limited and apparently dont include waving to passing riders AND staying on my side of the road when cornering.:fpalm.

So today I met up with sone old friends in Mokau then about ten i pointed myself south and intended to get as far as i could before baling into a motel. Rain started before Inglewood and got worse quickly so i hung a right and schlepped off to New Plymouth...where my NZ adventure started 43 years ago and am now tucked up in a nice room with a lot of wet gear. Such is life. Could very easily be a lot worse. Later, alligators.

In this mornings update i discover the new vstrom has a parking light!! Such sophistication. Unfortunately when you leave it switched on for 18 hours (because you couldn't see what you were doing when you went to lock the steering in the pouring rain without your specs on) the battery goes flat. :rofl

The rain has stopped down here in the Horowhenua and it may even brighten up by the time you get the battery sorted.

Thanks. There were ironic patches of blue sky here as i went out to see if i could start my dead bike. But based on my normally very reliable weather oracle (www.metvuw.com) there's a fair bit more to come so i booked for 2 nights. This is an unplanned ride so happy to slow down a bit. I really like New Plymouth so going to stick around today and maybe do some sightseeing. If it fines up enough ill get the bike going and charge up the battery a bit. The run down to Whanganui and Palmy Tuesday should sort it out.

Woodville was how far. Nice sunny ride after i left NPL dry roads and blue skies. Detoured into Palmy for some chain lube and now set up for the night. Dark in 30 mins or so.
I look back but sone suggested the tarp under the tent...great idea.

A bit crowded but it'll do.
