    Esteban,
Awesome ride and a not only entertaining report, but informative and personally pertinent. Especially over the last couple of months, many a time I would be planning my route south next year and be wondering about a specific route or destination and sure enough you’d go there within a day or two and provide some invaluable intel.

    Congratulations on a great ride!

Almost Christmas! I figure I better get another update in before the big day!

Thanks are all good here in Ushuaia! I've been eating real good and sampling some of the local beers! :dutch Yesterday I headed across the street to the prison, maritime and art museum. From the outside it looks like a prison or jail facility, shocking..... There was a boat on display though....

A little information on the boat

    It is slowly falling apart

An aerial photo of the prison.

Kind of what I expected inside

I found this pretty interesting! To bad our prisons aren't more like this one used to be. There would probably less repeat offenders. I also liked how they wore their classification on their clothing

This still rings true to this day

Nice leg irons! The ACLU would have a fit if we tried using these.... You won't run far or fast with those on! :nah

The main hall. The housing areas are called pavilions and there are 5 of them.

You can see the number of the housing row above each opening

The upper level of one of the re-furbished pavillions

Typical cell. Most cells were one man cells though.

Pavillion #1 is as it was found when they decided to turn this place into a museum. The upper level has wood for the walkway instead of concrete leading me to believe this may have been the first one built. You can see where the wood is rotting and falling apart. It was vey cold in here. :vardy There are two stoves, one on each end. Originally wood fired, until gas was available.

These stairs have seen a lot of use!

    Shower room

    Wash room

    One of the cells

    A nice comfortable sitting area!

    The upper level.

When I went into the museum, the sun was shining. When I was done, it was raining, fook! I hung out the rest of the day and relaxed, good times.

Today I went or a little walk and saw this. Apparently the company that owned it went bankrupt. It took so long to get the ownership sorted with the insurance company that it was a total loss by the time they got it done!

And there you have it! All up to date!

    Thanks for coming along!

Have a very Merry Christmas! :thumb

    Until next time,

    Esteban!
