This stream is Back Swamp. It flows into Cypress Creek which in turn empties in the North East Cape Fear River. Once I turned away from 53 I saw much less sign of devastation.

    It was a captivating place.

Just a few miles from Back Swamp

Slow on the camera draw. Crossing North East Cape Fear River.

Heading farther inland I thought this was a big farm operation for this part of the country. It had a family owned name on it, and as I continued I saw several Smithfield plants and outside Turkey, NC a Butterball plant.

    Riding through Fayetteville, NC.

Used to see cotton fields everywhere around here. Now not so much.

The house described on the historic sign is partially hidden by the tree, Presbyterian Church across intersection.

Chesterfield has many historic homes with signs. Mostly hidden by old trees.

    Broad River at Lockhart.

Lockhart Canal, feeding a power plant. That's why the Broad River never has much water right here.

Thanks Loren. Nice pics. Who picks up all the stuff the hurricane ruined?

I expect mostly it is county contracted. I did see some different style, sort of Euro looking to me, oversize tired trailer trucks that were obviously trash trucks. Also saw pickups with trailers and signs indicating they were involved in pick-up. And saw a track hoe loading one of the big trucks, should have gone back for the picture.

Went for a little ride yesterday.

    Grabbed this Upstate SC Tag

    Moved it on to here

There is a waterfall up there somewhere. That's the signage at the trail head.

I was so busy looking up at the view on the way in that I missed this. Saw it on the way out though!

Continuing on I noticed these horses. The gravel is the entrance to a church camp. Was going to check it out, but it was gated

Came on down US 176 to Landrum (I usually go around). I had seen elsewhere that they had gotten a rail car for their depot.

Got together with Numa, Flasher, and Augie for a little ride today. Turned out to be a littler ride than first anticipated. It was 36°F (2°C) when I left home to meet an hour away at a cafe. We didn't all have all our heated gear with us. No problem, we're just out for a motorcycle ride anyway.

Suiting up to leave the cafe

Next stop, King's Moutain, NC. Old depot

Stopped to look at this old stone church

Then it was on to 99 Island Dam. We have been having snow and rain, lots of water trying to go downstream

Then it was on to the safari. First up; Joe Camel strutting his Christmas stuff

Always enjoy your RR and photos....Still threatening (myself) to ride up that way when the Spring Thaw arrives here in Central Florida.

EDIT: Was out last week for a six hour solo ride. Went down the Yee Haw Junction, Fellsmere, then back up the coast. Should have taken some photos, but didn't. Thousands of acres of flat and wet lands...Home of the invasive Burmese python and Brazilian peppers.

I am getting seriously behind! A few shots from the Numa's annual New Year's Day ride.

This flock of goats was in the (little) road we were riding, headed home as we neared them

Some of the group at Crowder's Mtn State Park, NC (Gastonia). They let us park right in the middle since we only wanted to stay long enough to use the restroom.

And for the train fans, power at a rock quarry in Pacolet. They pull a lot of RR ballast out of here.

And today was milk run day. 40 miles one way to Happy Cow Creamery, we all prefer their milk and any excuse for a ride, right?

Today's ride included playing tag, so it was 125 mile trip.

Oh, 5 gal of milk, 1/2 gal strawberry milk, 1/2 gal chocolate milk, 2 lb of butter.

Picked up this as my replacement tag on the way out

We've had a lot of rain lately, for the last 6 months. Crossing the Enoree River on SC 418

Well, Numa set up a little group ride for us yesterday. Since he wasn't part of the group, thought I'd let him see some of what he missed.............:(

We met for breakfast in Polkville, then did the loop

    Couple views around Lake James

Glad you guys had a nice ride! Sorry I missed it. That work-related stuff can seriously impact your playtime.

I’ll schedule another time soon for us to get back together.
