We made a stop at Murchison on 197.
A stop near the Apple Orchard on the BRP
A little more art
At the Gragg community bulletin board
A little farther down the hill
That was a very fun ride! Thank you for helping plan the route and for sharing ride leader duties with Augie.
Would love to go again this Saturday, but the forecast is calling for rain all day on Saturday. Maybe it'll arrive early and rain itself out before the weekend.
So then today I played the NC ABC Tag game. Buncombe to Burke County.
View of Van Wingerden's greenhouses
This was the tag I went to get. I get hives when I go into the 'city', any 'city'. But it was a work day and I had never ventured into the arty-farty section of Asheville.
Andrews geyser was in full bloom today. It's actually a 'fountain' fed by a pipe from water higher up the mountain.
There was a Civil War battle at this location.
Then I moved the tag to here
I also had a great time! My son from California will be here this weekend, so I am not able to ride then anyway.
Couple more shots from today
Augiedog and I took a two day trip to and from southern WV the other day(s).
A few shots from the ride.
Preparing to leave Augie's :
Chasing Augie up 16 (NC)
Couple of shots above Wilkesboro NC
Some pictures near the NC/VA border.
Same general area
Augie mugs for the camera
More or less the excuse for this particular ride route
Continuing up 16
Views from the top
The approach to Welch with a mural on a water tank
Lots of history around
Tazewell, VA is the north end of the 'Dragon's Back'. Augie spied a bunch of cherry Model A cars behind glass. The glass made them difficult to photograph.
Some views from the bottom (going back south)
Found some gravel in NC
I took us the wrong way, but getting back on track allowed me to see the original 'Mast General Store'
The whole town of Welch, WV is rather covered in murals
Lot's of coal mining & moving in WV
And evidence of former movement
Wow,I have to say that your pics are surely with high quality.Awesome!!Love it!!
Thank you OTW!
Took a rather round the horn route to the dairy today. A few shots.
Went and grabbed a tag
Then stopped at a similar marker miles away
Thought this was nice
Don't know the history. Obviously from a long gone house
took this while chasin Opa up a gravel shortcut.
The mountian top views were great.
