So Augiedog, Numa, and I went for a little mountain ride last Saturday. Numa wanted to run some forest service roads.

Our first sightseeing stop was at the 'Cup House' on John's River Rd.

After a fuel stop in Blowing Rock we headed back down the gravel toward Gragg & Mortimer.

Just around a couple more turns in the road we encountered a very difficult section. Took us 50 minutes to go 3 miles. Ain't going in there again! Maybe Augie or Numa can add a photo or two of the havoc. I was too focused on not falling/crashing to remember I had a camera with me! :muutt :becca :eekers

Great photos, Loren! Here are a couple of shots from that rough section, but they simply don't do it justice.

The roughest stretches of that section did not lend themselves much to stopping for photos. Deep erosion ruts, rocks, boulders, dirt, mud, water, dry leaves, wet leaves, branches hanging over the trail and trees down along the edges of the trail; all while riding steeply down hill. I felt fortunate to get through there with just one slow speed tip over (thanks again for helping me right my KLR). I'm very impressed with how well Augie and you rode that section on your big bikes. I feel like my riding skills have improved greatly since I began riding with you guys on a regular basis. Saturday was a very enjoyable day!

    Thank you!

There used to be a Sugar Tit community a couple miles from Reidville (home of Sugar Tit Moonshine). They were doing quite a business when I stopped by there about dark thirty that evening.....
