    Well nothing is _impossible_ :)
I think with a giant loop would be ok. But the rest of the trail is harder.
I think it might be ok if conditions are not so wet and sloppy.

We tried Mitas earlier in the year. A few bikes had the E09 and they all had issues with flats like rocks actually penetrating the rubber.
Those with 908s had no issues.

So no one of us will use the E09 ever again.

    Congratulations to your daughter! :clap
That must have been exciting for her, scary for you and her mom :D
    Thanks for the pic!
Those red rocks are pretty amazing, aren't they?

    Thanks, O Team!
We're glad, too. :D Thanks for reading!

Oh, I'm glad you had that video!
It didn't look bad on helmet cam, but I know it must have been slippery as hell.

Regarding the Mitas - nope, no fans of the E09 in this group.
Matt left it on for the ride up to Scott's place (all pavement),
but I was relieved as soon as we could replace it with a new Rally.

Great job doing Star on the 990! Those rocks will beat you up on a real (read smaller) KTM dirt bike, much less on the big guy. You the man! :dealIt does get worse, a very tough uphill not too much further up, but you got a proper dose of The Star Experience! Ride on:clap

It's gotta be bad if your breathing is louder than the bike :lol3

I was in CO on a wr250r a few weeks ago and that almost made me hyperventilate a couple times. You guys with the 990s are :loco

Great RR BTW. The video of Black Bear was great. I chickened out because of time and riding solo, but after seeing the video I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been too bad. I opted for Ophir and Imogene instead. Definitely will be making a return trip with more time to see some of the stuff I missed this time :deal

I just looked at that...wow. My family and I must have hit a perfect window, because there was evidence of flooding on the way out there, but we only were rained on in the evenings...after I had finished my riding for the day (I was only there for a few days).

Hopefully, once things dry out the recovery is quick with few (none) casualties!

Beyond the joy of watching you all expertly negotiate goat paths bordering fall into oblivion fails, and rock rises and falls such that I'm sitting here wondering how you all walked, much less rode them, I am more shocked that you actually considered not writing a report, because "Colorado had been done." :rofl

    Thanks for reconsidering!

    Day 8: 8/8/13
    goofing off around Silverton, CO.
Black Bear, Imogene, Engineer passes. 69.5 miles, continued

Last time we stopped at the Conoco station and they had some tasty food.
We didn’t want to confuse Doug (we said we’d meet at “the gas station”, not knowing there were 2)...
Shell was first, so Shell it was.

This is Doug. He’s from the Boston area.
I don’t know if he’s on ADV. Doug, are you out there? :ear

He was happy to have someone to ride with, and he hadn’t done Imogene yet.
    Lucky! :D

Even though we ended up skipping lunch (no yummy Telluride pizza at Shell :cry),
    it was worth it.
Look who we ran into - NOTAR_520 and MaverickChick! :clap

Matt recognized them from their TAT ride report (circa 2009)
    Boy, were they surprised! :lol3

We had a little chit chat about their vacation and the riding they were doing.
Mav and Notar had already done Imogene - aw, too bad!
I know it’s hard to eat lunch when someone is yammering at you,
so we said our goodbyes, left them in peace,
and tried to figure out where we were going...

Matt and I skipped lunch. I’m sure the guys got something.
Lica was able to grab some snacks - rice crackers.
Yummy, but not the most trail-friendly grub.

According to Norman J. Delorman, this was the way...

    Went past some paragliders...

    And into a residential area.
    Are you sure, Norm? :huh

That looks like Black Bear across the way, so - yep. :nod

    Here we are. Imogene.

I got a meh photo of Black Bear and the falls...

But, Bartek got a nice one. :D
    Both waterfalls!
Ingram Falls on the left, Bridal Veil Falls on the right.

Lica took a photo of the group...

As Bartek took a photo of him.

Matt and I were waiting at the tunnel (photo op),
    when we heard some bikes...

Hey! Look who’s here - Mav and Notar!
    Wooo hooo!!! :ricky:ricky

(this is it, Mav. This is the photo I was saving.
See, nothing to be worried about :D)

    We sent everyone ahead.
    There goes Doug!

Lica found another spot for taking pics of Black Bear.

Oh, nice. From this angle, you see those pools, too.

Our stupid GoPro was fogged up again, which was a bummer.
I looked at all our footage and could only get this lame screenshot of Mav and Notar.

None of my action photos turned out, either. :bluduh

Sorry, guys! I suck at this. :fpalm

We went around them, only to stop.
Lica caught us and said his clutch was gone.

He needed a refill (Matt was carrying automatic transmission fluid), so Matt topped him off here.
We had to hurry (before all the jeeps that we had passed caught up)!

I grabbed photos of Osito and Bartek as they rolled up.

Oh, Mav has a photo of us on the side of the road.
It's from her "TAT Redemption" report.
    Thanks, MaverickChick!

So, Matt shot video on Imogene but it’s pretty much unusable.
As mentioned, too much crap on the lens.
Too bad, ‘cause we had a pretty good ride.
(Even though the clutch was barely working)

My blurry photos will have to suffice.

Jeep tour of something. Mining ghost town?

Matt wanted to let the guys go ahead of us, so he could film.
(so sad when nothing turned out)

Heh, I did get this screen shot of Lica :clap

Going up that road, our clutch went out for good. :cry

We stopped here so Matt could work on it. :bash

He bled it and then added more fluid.
Made it work *okay* but it was still leaking...

I changed the SD card and battery in my camera at the same time...
and I barely finished before he did!

Mav caught us testing it out :evil

swiped from Mav's report again :D

You can’t really tell from the pics, but at one point we had snow! OK, maybe just sleet.
    something icy and cold. :vardy

Is there a sign up on Imogene? If there was, I didn’t see it. :scratch
I guess the mailbox is good enough.

    El Bartek had the honor...

    Nice work, Smartek! :D

I think Lica had a good ride, even though his clutch was messing up.

    Osooooooooo! :bite

    Lica, you're awesome. :D

Well, I'm going to leave you guys up here.
I have hit the wall. I've been slacking on everything else. Gotta take of of bidness. :lol3
    Laters! :wave

    Oh wait - Lennys:
Matt likes the FMF - it's the titanium one. They came with the bike (we did not spend the $900+ for the pair).
He says it's perfect. Slightly louder than stock, but not too loud. Good tone.
Stays cool to the touch. Very nice.

Wow, what a Wantastic ride report marathon I just finished. Got thru over a weeks worth of your posts. The video of the ride up Schofield in the dark was insane. I kept leaning to the right with my body in the chair.

With regards to fogging with the GoPros. Are you guys using the anti-fog inserts?

Digging the report. My coworkers think I'm crazy, laughing one minute , and then a look of panic the next.

First time was sheer terror. Each time after that was just good healthy fear! I have a photo on my desk of me and my '94 R100 GSPD at the overlook on BB, just to remind me of when I was young and foolish! But I really do miss ol' Black Bear!

    Hi commenters - :wave

    Sorry for the wait.
I tried to do this yesterday
    and I lost everything. :baldy

    Gave it another shot...
and did it again at 6:30 this morning.
    :becca

    *sigh* Who wants cake? :dg

    Let's hope 3rd time's the charm.

    Hey, MaverickChick snuck in there...

    Oh hai, Mav!
    :wave

I was hoping you were still with us...
Thanks for the photos I stole. :evil
    :lol3

Oh, you were kicking ass. Next year is your year. :deal

    Now, get back to work!
    On your report, that is.

I believe you left off, promising us some crashy-crashy?....

    :augie

    Oh, it's awful. :cry
Historic rainfall and 100 year flooding.
I just saw an interview with the responders to this washout

    Everyone was rescued, thankfully.
I hope the rain stops soon. Our thoughts are with the residents of Colorado...

    Yay, Radek! Canimal Power! :super

Aw, you would have been fine on a WRR.
    Next time :deal

It's a stupid movie, but if you're bored... :dunno
Thanks, redog. I'm glad you're still reading!
    Readog? :hmmmmm
    :lol3

    Thanks, NoVa Rider!
oh well, you know how it is. Plus, any excuse to NOT do a report...:lol3

But, I guess every fall there are a ton of TAT, CO, and UT reports.
That's the best stuff to ride!

Matt and I also felt that we had done those things to death :rolleyes
but, it was different going with the guys. and we did some new things.

I'm glad you aren't bored with it!

Jeeze. I don't know about the forecast...

You might want one of these:

    :eek1

    Hey Joe!
Glad you got caught up - I know it was probably a slog!

No, we should get some of those anti-fog things. I didn't know they made such a thing.
We use the GoPro so infrequently, we always forget all the issues.
It's not until we get a chance to watch the video (usually once we're home) that we remember.

    Gah. Next time.

I still have those Eagle Canyon pics for you - coming up eventually. :deal

Oh, you're right! Totally blew past it.

I didn't use this photo that Lica took, but now I see the back of the sign...

    :nod Yep.

    Thank you!

Glad to bring back some good memories! :D

    Rwelch!!!
    :wave
    Long time no see,
    Ryan!
    How are you?
Hope your leg is 100% by now.
You've missed a couple other reports, too - Baja and "I've Made a Huge, Tiny Mistake." :evil
I know you're probably hard at work as an engineer(!) by now, but you have a LOT of reading to do...

Say hi to Landon for me! :D

OK, I think almost everyone on ADV is an engineer of some type (electrical, mechanical, aerospace, software, etc...).
I tried to find something that would offend everyone equally.

    :lol3

Coming up next - Engineer Pass.

Redog1 should be reddog. Been using reddog as a "handle"since 1974 when I got my first CB radion. When the internet came out many years ago I was using the same "handle" but somewhere along the way I lost it when I first had Hotmail. Could never recaptured it so it's evolved from there.

I swear we all must have been on Imogene the same day! Here is a shot I took and it looks like the OSO sticker is already there. In the opposite corner of the mailbox door there is a LEE'S sticker which is a cycle shop not 30 miles from here. I talked to him and he said that had been there since 2011.

Did you sign the book in the box? We didn't see any OSO stuff.
