Thank you Wans for your Wanderful ride report. Another gem. :clap
You've probably answered this, what does Wan stand for? (Please don't let it be obvious to everyone but me...).

I'll maybe show my ignorance but I was always thinking it was this: One = Wan, with maybe a Jersy or Rob Reiner accent. Thus Matt is "Big One" and Kelly is "Little One". This is theme is carried out in the title Baja WanK = Baja 1K. Also there is subtle reference to Obi Wan Kenobi, and possibly a an old western reference. Of course the Wan's are sometimes willing to dip into the gutter with thier references :huh, but I will refrain. Don't read into Adv names too much or you'll go nuts. :lol3

Thanks for the love, you guys - I'm happy you enjoyed the report!
    You're very welcome. :wave

Um. David, you're waaaaaaay over-thinking this one... :rofl
over thinking this Wan? :scratch :D

Hi dustyrider, I think it's only obvious to a handful of people on ADV - maybe 3 of them.

"Wan" is simply part of our last name. How boring is that??
Matt started it when he signed up as "BigWan," of course the only logical name for me was "LittleWan."
And, yes, he was thinking it sounded like "big one", here's the dictionary lady saying "Wan..."

In person, people sometimes think Matt is saying, "BigJuan" :lol3

Note that was the merriam-webster dictionary lady, not some ol' clapped out urban dictionary ho.
I don't care for any of those urban dictionary definitions. :eek7

Even the true definition of "wan" is rather unfortunate, but we do our best to counteract it.

    :rofl

and, as far as any reference to Obi Wan Kenobi - :scratch

well, it must have been that video!

And I thought that was pronounced Wayne, not Wan. Need to read my dictionary more often. -David

PS: Hey check this out, I'm not totally nuts. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/wax+and+wane
Like I said, just need to read the dictionary more often. -D

Wow! This was my first Wan report. I am going to have to go back and read the others. Outstanding writing and photography LittleWan. Thank you for all the time and effort that you put into this.

As far as the riding goes, there is no way that I can describe how impressed I am with the way the Osos ride their big bikes. I always say that I am the limiting factor when riding my 990. I had no idea how much of a limit I am. Thanks for making me feel completely inadequate. :lol3

I guess that I am going to have to start stepping up my game.

Lica and I were missing all our Osos today. Here is a video clip on what we were up to. We were scouting some trails for 2014 Polar Oso, poutine tour.

    Thanks, Brian!
It was great meeting you and the guys. :D
I enjoyed having some ride report crossover with your RR - it was fun!
And thanks to you, Napoleon Pass is on our new short list :deal
Maybe see you out there? :evil

    Hi Skyclad!
    Thanks for joining us!
Aw, sorry - I have a feeling that a lot of big KTMs are going to be gaining more "character" thanks to this RR.
    Oso "Inspiring."

    :rofl

Have fun, but don't get hurt!!

Awww - that is one sad Oso! :cry

    I'm sad, too, Justin!
Hope the brewing is going well.
Thanks for hanging out with us, we enjoyed your company!
    :beer
and you saw I'm still using that photo you took of our blinker held on with electrical tape! :lol3

Just Paul sent us that flyer a while back - I'm surprised KTM used that pic! :lol3

It seems like KTM squandered their time in Colorado,
from what I've seen, it looks like the riding was pretty boring. :cry
Granted, the weather was uncooperative, but still.
    They were in Colorado!

I know the Osos had a great time at the 2012 Bend rally,
(mostly because of all the awesome Bend guys like K_N_Fodder and wachs...:deal)
But, I wonder what KTM's going to use on the flyer for next year?

    Woooo! Looking good, Radek! :clap
Can't wait to see what you and Lica find. :evil
I see you were testing out your new suspension...
    How did it feel? :ear

Now that yours is done, I guess Alex should be working on Osito's and Bartek's...

Nice to see the Osos are still spending time together!
Speaking of Bartek, he and Matt were riding little bikes this weekend...

which is why I'm here with you guys lately. :lol3

Thanks again for the nice comments, you guys.
It's hard to let go, isn't it? :cry

I love having my life back, but a part of me misses our time together.
It was a really fun ride to re-live.

    :freaky

By the way - I finally got around to doing that index I keep talking about...
I went back to page 1, post #1 and made all the ride highlights into clickable links. :deal
It wasn't easy, I had to go back and forth between Firefox and Safari. :rolleyes

I didn't test them all, so please let me know if anything is screwed up...

But, this way, it will be easier to find the specific passes and all the "good stuff."
I really need to go back and re-read some of it, like Schofield. :D

This is still one of my favorite photos of the trip...

    Yaaaaaaaaaaah! Osooooooooo!

    :clap

Oh, yeah - Maybe if kaia is reading this report, he'll come back and tell us how many photos and smilies I used this time.

    :ear

Well I stopped in at the Steamboat rally for about two hours on Friday morning. They have lots of pics of pretty 1190's parked on pavement. And probably pictures of rain, lots of rain.

Since I was on the other brand, I headed out to Rawlins and points north.

    I have a few pics here MTrider16

Just caught up on this fantastic Oso Tour RR! :clap

Thanks for sharing the adventure, and you Osos really worked those Big Bikes hard, and Wans 2-Up for most of it, that rocks! :getiton
I've beat my '07 990S pretty hard but not that bad! :eek1

... wonder if those Big Oranges could do the whole Rainbow Trail in CO, 2-Up. Surely that would be trivial? :augie :lol3

Lica and Radek showed up at our Fall Newbie ride this past weekend and put on an impressive display riding their monster machines on trails meant for little dirt bikes. These guys are gods.

Radek's bike alone weighs more than me and mine combined.

This pic does not provide a good comparison, but I think both 990's also have more clearance than my Beta's 12 inches.

As good as these guys are, they expressed much respect for Matt's "no wasted movements" riding skills, especially riding two up.

Maybe these guys are only demigods. The Wans are the true masters.

Thank you Matt and Kelly and the rest of the Oso's for a great ride report. Epic stuff.

That was a fun read. Your first day was a long one!!
    Sorry about your mirror. :cry
    3 daves and 2 todds!

    :rofl

    Awwww! :raabia

    bigdon, is that your pup??
I remember you posted this one last time...

    Someone is growing up!!
So cute! Thanks for the pics. :D
Give your doggie some behind-the-ear scratches for me!

    Hiya cyborg!
I'm glad you found us :D
wooo! '07 990S! getting harder and harder to find one...they keep getting totaled for some reason. :cry

Hmmm. I'm not really thinking about Colorado at the moment, but I did google the Rainbow Trail...

I suck at research, I can only do it just before we leave on a trip,
but I found a couple things and will stick them here for future reference...(and for anyone else who is curious)

ADV thread Rainbow Trail GPS tracks
Rainbow trail ride report on Everytrail (haven't read it yet, just bookmarking now)

    Thanks for the suggestion! :evil

    Thanks for the link, Ladybug!

24 hr race on big bikes!

Radek's representing the Osos on this one...
Matt said, "Hmph. no one told me about it. :eek7:dirtdog :lol3"

Good luck Radek and the rest of the heavyweights!!

    :clap

    Hi Joel! Thank you!
haha, OK, no little bikes. :deal

    Next one??
You guys are always talking about the "next one!" :nono

    :knary

    :lol3

    oh my goodness, j2beers! :eekers

    "gods??" :eek7 "demigods?" "masters??"

    :imaposer

    Now you're just being silly.
You're trying to get us struck by lightning!!

I know it's simply RR zeal and you (and everyone else who has said insanely nice things here) are just being generous and sweet...
    (muchas gracias!)

    But...
We're just a dumb, middle-aged couple who enjoys being in the dirt.
Sometimes, waaaay down in the dirt...

    That's it.
    Nothing special here. :nah
We just don't mind testing to see what's unimpossibler. :D

Sounds like you guys had a nice ride - and no snow yet!
By the way - what the hell are Radek and Lica doing on a "Newbie ride??" :dirtdog

    :rofl

Thanks so much for your RR support and enthusiasm!
P.S. Radek's bike is one of the lightest ones - no crash bars, no side racks, only 1 front rotor...
his 990 is probably 20lbs lighter than ours....
