Akkerman castle is such an unusual name.
Jan Akkerman was a famous musician from the Netherlands. He would be surprised to learn he has a castle named after him. :queenie
Do you know the origin of the name, per chance?

No more than pure co-incidence, a 100% homophone/homograph, not in any way related to each other. The Akkerman castle got its name from its location near the eponymous settlement, whose name composed of two Turkish words: Ak = white and kerman = town, Akkerman = White Town, most likely because they used local limestone which looked white in the sun. This had been the name of the place until after WWII when it got re-named into Russian Belgorod(-Dnestrovskiy ), which in fact is nothing else than a calque of its original Akkerman name: Bel(yi ) = white + gorod = town. The second part -Dnestrovskiy is an adjective specifying its location on the Dnestr river since Belgorod is a very common Russian town's name and there are several more ( not only Russian in fact - see the Serbian Belgrade for example ). It's current Ukrainian name of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky is in its turn a translation of its Russian name into the Ukrainian language.

The remains of Castle Dürnstein on the height in the background. It's in the Danube valley about 85km west of Vienna. Story goes Richard Lionheart was imprisoned there by Duke Leopold V between December 1192-March 1193 when returning from the third crusades. He was released by order of Heinrich VI, emperor of the Holy Roman Emprie.
