Excited since it's in my backyard, but really confused on the dates?
Potentially kills any chance of day rides up in the high country for attendees, plus very good chance it will be snow down on the front range then. Either way very cold for camping attendees vs AZ.
This should have been a 1st or 2nd weekend in September show imo.
Wait...I now see below it says August for those dates in very small print in the image? Typo?
That would make sense.
Expect the Old Flowers Rd and Kingston Peak to be very busy in late August.
Anyone planning a Colo rally should take note.
I was liking the Flagstaff location. Always a good time but this will be quite a bit closer so thats a good thing.
That’s not Colorado. That’s the Front Range.
Like California's eastern annex?
Oh great, more Instagram influencers and people who have a RTT so the whole world knows they camped, twice.
Definitely draws a little of that. And a lot of VERY EXPENSIVE toys. But overall, I had a lot of fun at the Flagstaff one. There are a few living the instagram life (borrowed from another thread) but there are quite a few genuine world travelers to find and socialize and get great tips from as well.
It's worth checking out at least once if you actually enjoy travel. I will be putting this on my calendar.
I had noting to do there my first day so I volunteered for parking detail. I was at the entry so I got to see opening day every vehicle/rig/motorcycle etc.
I will say first hand; I received 1.5 million dollar Earth Roamers to 1967 Plymouth stationwagons that a guy welded a 2nd plymouth wagon to the top of that had a wood burning furnace in. So the spectrum is quite wide.
I agree with the Instagram comment though. If someone emails me one more Youtube of someone "living the dream" by spending one day camping and one day video editing I'm gonna shoot myself. Equal to or greater than one more so called rock band that claims Johnny Cash as an influence and is wearing one of his T Shirts bought at Old Navy I may do the same.
I enjoyed it in the early years when it was south of Tucson. Lately it's gotten much too commercial and too expensive.
I agree. The new owners obviously have profits ahead of anything else.
They scheduled it during Burning Man. Tsk...
I enjoy seeing all the Euro-only overland vehicles that make it & meeting people and hearing about their travels.
Well that means Pete and Ash won't have a booth setup at the Colorado event.
