OK. First of all, don't expect regular updates. If you know me, I ain't into technology and we don't get along. Second, this trip is for me and not you. I've been planning and waiting for this for over 2.5 years. I'll update/revise/expand/add pictures to the RR when I get back to my computer.

Backstory: Originally, another friend of mine and I were going to do the TAT two years ago but he injured his shoulder and that was the end of motorcycling for him. I met DualScotty a couple years ago on a meet-up ride arranged on ADVRider. We quickly realized that we had a LOT in common including really wanting to ride the TAT.

"Pig" is obviously me on the XR650L. Scotty rides a blue KLR and said that if I have a Pig then he's on a blue ox. Hence "Ox and Pig". I made stickers. We'll stick 'em around.

So here we are a year and a half later in the final days before departure. We'll trailer down to Maggie Valley, visit the Wheels through Time museum, do the Tail of the Dragon, and start the TAT in Tellico.

    In!

Edit, Jesse you have my email address. If you or Scott want to fire off some photos to me over email every few days, I'd be glad to post them here for you and be your 'man on the ground' for updates.

Looking forward to peeking in on your adventures Jesse. But make sure not to be a slave to any of this forum crap. First order of business is your adventure for YOU!

Excited for you. Have fun and be safe.

    Enjoy the journey.

Good luck to you guys on your trip.

Watch out for the monsoons out west, the season starts in a few weeks.

Curious as to what your plans are for the return trip?

If you run into a tight spot or need some assistance don’t hesitate to post up here or in the regional forum. Always amazing how far cell service reaches in the western US. The Tapatalk app makes it easy post stuff up here on ADV.

    Stay Safe!

    Go KLR - I have a 2012 so I'm routing for you
What gear are running for this 15 or 16?
'... nice and light ...' and KLR don't usually mix in the same sentence. . Reading some of the other RRs on the TAT, there are some seriously packed out bikes

Got wet yesterday but a good day of riding. The Dragon has been slayed. Chased a swarm of Miatas through the hills. Not sure why it double posted pics... KIMG0262.JPG KIMG0262.JPG KIMG0271.JPG

    Day 2
Covered 300 miles today of mostly pavement. No camping near the end of section 10 so we ran up to Pulaski, TN, for a hotel. No rain so that's good. Battery in my GoPro died early (unbeknownst to me) so no proof that Scotty dropped his bike in the infamous water crossing on Witt Road. Or that I stalled halfway across. Hero 7 eats batteries.

Jesse, did you bring a supply of your "Bug Juice" or whatever that alcoholic concoction you make, with you for sustenance? LOL! Ride safe! Looking forward to more pics. We'll miss you at DirtDaze this year!
