Oh. Well thats great, I'm sure he'll love some rando dreamer without $44,000 and very little idea asking about his bikes Thanks for educating me but I don't want to waste someone like Rod's time, I'll keep Googling and reach out to him when I actually have a bike and my business is not haemorrhaging thousands of dollars every month. I was more wondering if there is a Rally build thread on the WR anyone knows of. No matter.
https://www.magzter.com/article/Lif...azine/Rodney-Faggotter-The-Longreach-Waterboy Think he still runs the Yamaha shop in Longreach as well. Main reason I mentioned him.
Ahh, I'm with you now mate. Thank you ! I will give him a bell. I just didn't want to waste his time. But sounds like I'd be fine to talk to him.
Just been to his facebook page, Cruz thanks man. While I am completely out of his league I am so pumped to see what he is doing and has done. Very inspirational
Easy to gear the 701 for street and off road. I just dropped 14 on the front. What’s Uncle’s problem??
My memory of calcs done in the day is that the 6-speed 690/701 gearbox had exactly the same spread (width) as the 5-speed enduro gearbox in the 2014 WR450F It was fine for the Duke etc, as geared right up But the motor wouldn't lug (that may have changed) so you needed to gear it back for offroad stuff - and then it would scream like a chainsaw on open roads And yes, the 625SXC that I've ridden has a gearbox that is a lot more versatile - the old TE630 also for that matter, and that's now been re-birthed in a few formats
At least its been finally confirmed by those that know now that 690/701 can’t cope as adventure bikes, I may have strayed to a 701 / 701LR I’ll have to cross them off my list
didn't like as a one and only bike and also never found the gearbox a problem for australian conditions
Rode the current 690 last break. Safari tank and a few other bits and pieces. Highway and some gravel/dirt. Pretty impressive I thought....
