Im starting this new thread in hopes to inspire the locals and neighboring riders to get on their bikes and share their local riding experiences. I myself have not been on unpaved road since last spring. In preparation for next week 2017-5-trans-florida-adventure-rally-part-deux , I got some practice riding loxahachee and jw Corbett today. Today's ride was a true adventure. There was a lot of flooding from all the rain ...not too bad except for windmill point lane. Corbett was completely flooded. Their were few people around (all day) . The main roads had a lot of pot holes, I guess that's the trade off instead of all the sand. Trail 6 was actually a flowing stream. The trail that runs along next to it was in great shape. We may not have the best riding in out area, but at least its close by and good for all bikes.
Alas my ADV bike in hibernating up in Michigan for the winter so am on my FJR1300 for Florida living. I do have an old 76 CL360 but I only use it for puttering around local. Not far from you past Okeechobee a bit on the Kissimmee River. Enjoy the ADV rally!
I am down from Ohio with my Tiger XC and looking to ride this weekend (28/29 October). I am down in Homestead, but obviously can move around. Anything good down here? I do have a national park pass, so if nothing else, I'm riding there. I would love suggestions. I'm trucking back north on the 1st, hitting the Dragon on the 2nd and home late that night.
Just did one leg of the trans Florida adventure rally. Was a great ride as usual. Another PBC rider Importance won first place in the B class.
so how is loxahachee and J W Corbett for riding. is riding in J W Corbett legal to ride ? I am bringing some bike down this here and was wording if I should bring down the X challenge ? any other areas to ride down there ?
Lox is basically public dirt roads. If you got to the far west, they are not maintain well. Some not at all. Pay the $2.00 for Corbett and you can only ride on the main roads and trail 6. Trail 6 is either flooded or deep sand. Not much else around here.
Anyone up for some riding this weekend? ...post up. I was planning on taking out the cruiser for a change. Either Saturday or Sunday. Otherwise I can do Corbett etc.
Good call Ryan, heres some video from my buddy Chris last weekend, we both slid back down that hill first try.
Sorry Jason. I'd be in but we're headed to North Ga this weekend for the holiday. Only biking we'll be doing is mountain biking!!
Who wouldn't want to go to croom. I wish I could but don't have the time or resources. I'll have to settle with what riding is available around here. That was the reason behind this thread. Hopefully it will catch on and more riders will come out.
I appreciate the invitation. Sorry, I had to work Saturday. If you don't mind riding Sunday morning with a naked Ninja 250, I will happily meet you in your area early. I have taken the bike on bad dirt roads, but not in deep sand. I will have to come back home by noon, though.
I already committed to riding with a buddy in the am. Strictly street riding. Otherwise I would have jump on the opportunity for a adventure ride. Is you ninja a standard or sport bike? If you decide to go at it alone, map your way to Windmill point Ln in loxahachee. ...then your in the thick of it. There will not be a lot of sand with all the rain we been having. It's going to be hard to find another weekend riding day with the holidays coming, but I'll try..
