Stahlratte is still stuck in Isla Mujeres/Mexico.
Since we had to cancel all our tours for the last 2 month due to the corona crisis we are running out of resources now.
We hope for the borders to open up soon so we can travel down south and get back to work between Colombia and Panama.
We try now to raise some money to cover our expenses untill we are back to "normal"...
If you feel able to help please check our WEBSITE.
    Thanks :)

Right now it looks like Colombia intends to keep the borders closed till the end of August.
Ludwig and our agent in Cartagena have applied for a special permit now for the return to Colombia. Lets see what comes out of that...

Here is the latest message from Ludwig and Anna:

"It is time now for a very big "THANK YOU" to everyone who helped us in these difficult times.
We were very surprised how many people donated. In just a few days we were able to collect enough money to fill up our diesel tanks!
It is an absolutely great feeling to see that there is a community that has been building up around "Stahlratte" over the years and that we can count on so much help.
This community consists of former guests, crew-members and also friends and family.
A very big hug to everyone and we hope very much to see you all back here on the old "Stahlratte" (please not all at the same time ;) )."

We expect to resume the tours again in September when Colombia will open the borders again.
So donations are still very welcome.
Please check our website for the links.

Ahhhh my God, I've been trapped outside Colombia for 5 months, but with unfortunate government actions infection rate in the country is increasing. Not good for our families exposed to this virus but well, it depends on high percentage of what we do ourselves to protect our lives. Now there are expecting for some point in July to restart domestic flights, so maybe the international flights could be starting back sooner than expected (in September). Let's see, it's still unknown but it could happen, after the "Covid Friday" authorized by government you could expect any other thing, no matter how crazy it could be

Well, another month and situation in Colombia is getting worst, as always breaking records in bad stuff . El Dorado airport in Bogota is intended to reopen on September, but only for domestic flights in not very usual routes; now talking about international flights, they expect around mid september and with reviews every 3 weeks, so it will be month after month to see any normal operations on international flights. Now the other thing you may consider is with such a crazy high infection rate in the country, we are the "new ugly duck" in the world, with new bans for travelers coming from Colombia. It started with some European countries ban, but with the level of disorder of my "paisanos" I will expect the bans to Colombia will increase soon. Very unfortunate for all of us waiting to go back home.

Stahlratte is back in San Blas / Panama.
So finally outside of the hurricane area...
Tours between Panama and Colombia are still not possible.
Maybe that will change over the next weeks...
